"Wonderful new coffee shop in La Costa. The coffee is delicious and reasonably priced compared to other places. When you enjoy your coffee and food at the restaurant, they give you a real mug and plate which is a really nice touch. I had a cold brew and California burrito while my wife had a honey vanilla Latte and cheese Danish. They were all excellent. The cold brew was very smooth and not bitter at all. The burrito was huge, more than I could finish, but delicious with the salsa it comes with. The Latte was very tasty too and not too sweet, while the Danish was flaky and wonderful. Everything is house made there which is super cool. Give Ascend a shot, you won't be disappointed. Nice to support a local business in Carlsbad and San Marcos."

Calming environment and great staff. The owner is very welcoming and generous with her time. "Warming inviting atmosphere, great coffee and I love their fresh pastries. Service is speedy and staff is courteous. I usually order online and pickup in store, but recommend anyone to spend time in the cafe. It's great to see that they have expanded, I first heard about ASCEND in San Marcos. Heavily recommend over dated big chain mass produced coffee. I suggest their Loloru Dark Roast blend, I have personally bought over a dozen bags to brew at home."

"Over the years I have been on a constant search for good coffee through my travels to Rwanda, Italy, France, USA and learning along the way. Yesterday I was looking for a quick coffee and Ascend was the closest. The coffee here is brilliant, aromatic, you can taste the powerful roasted coffee taste, intense and full-bodied rich in roasted notes. A dash of milk gives a sweet softening to the overall flavours and just as fantastic without milk too. I was informed they use a blend of coffee beans being sourced from Columbia and Thailand. Dint try the food but its all made fresh by the owner A must must try coffee cafe"
