Reviews of The Grill at Point Pinos
"Short review: Nice staff, they have VERVE coffee! Chicken & waffles are fire. Longer review: I had one of the best breakfasts ever years ago in Monterey. It was a place that served verve coffee & had these bomb chicken & waffles with country gravy. I always wanted to go back to that place but found out they closed. However I did some digging & found out that that former owner owned THIS restaurant & they also serve Verve coffee (which is the best coffee) & made the same chicken & waffles. We decided to go here & it did not disappoint, it was once again one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I’m not sure how it makes sense to put together fried chicken, sweet syrup, slightly spicy country gravy & a waffle to make a perfect breakfast but it just works & is I believe a marvellous example of God’s good common Grace. There are many things that will keep me coming back to Monterey, & this place is definitely one of them. Their crab Benedict was also pretty good, & its right next to a gold course & you have a view of the ocean."
"Amazing food, cocktails and service. Michael makes a helluva of a whiskey sour (according to my son) and the best greyhound I’ve ever had (don’t tell my sister in law; she makes a darn good greyhound). A local experience not to be missed (according to a local)."
"Came here several times now, had the chicken and waffles and the chicken was really good, I wasn’t a fan of the gravy seemed like it was missing something. But the Bloody Mary’s we got were killer, made really exceptionally and the customer service was really friendly and top notch. I love the atmosphere and elegance of the place. Definitely come here"
"Food was amazing, staff was so friendly and the views were beautiful. We got the chicken and waffles and it was the best we’ve had. The fried chicken is award winning and it lives up to it. The eggs Benedict was really good as well. I highly recommend"
"I can't think of a better way to start the day than to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at The Grill at Point Pinos. We didn't go just once; we had to go twice! During our recent getaway to the area, my wife and I decided to try The Grill at Point Pinos. Yes, we were staying right around the corner, but we had always wanted to try The Grill. It did NOT disappoint. For our first morning, I enjoyed the Bacon Cheddar Biscuits and Slightly Spicy Sausage Gravy. My wife enjoyed the Papas Poblanos. We also ordered coffees and a carafe of traditional mimosas. First, let me say that the portions are large. A great value for the price. Just beware that if you're not super hungry, ask your server for suggestions for a lighter meal. Speaking of servers, we had the absolute BEST. Ana is such a wonderful person. Attentive but not intrusive. And we had the joy of her service both mornings! A wonderful smile and super pleasant demeanor, she is just great! We were even greeted by the GM (my apologies for not remembering her name) on our second visit and she remembered us! During our first trip, we opted to eat outside as it was a beautiful morning (the fog had burned off). Just keep in mind that the birds like to sit in the overhead trees. :-). But we opted to eat inside on our second visit due to the foggy morning. My wife and I both wanted something "lighter" for breakfast, so I chose the Thick Cut Ham and Eggs (came with 2 slices of sourdough and country potatoes) and my wife ordered the Spiced Apples and Toasted Pecans Waffle. Again, large portions! Definitely a great value. Both meals were great. We enjoyed the views and interactions with everyone at The Grill. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future! Highly recommended."
