"Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my son out for a special date night at Special Noodle in Newark, and it was truly a delightful experience. The food was simply delicious, earning it a solid 4.5 stars in my book. While the chow fun wasn't the best I've had, and the soup dumplings were just average, the chili wontons definitely hit the spot. However, the star of the show was undeniably the numbing beef soup. It was bursting with flavor and truly a must-try, although be prepared for a slight numbing sensation in your tongue and throat. Despite this, it remains one of my favorite soups. In addition to the fantastic food, the service was top-notch. The staff was quick, responsive, and very accommodating, despite the language barrier with some servers. Their warmth and friendliness added to the overall pleasant dining experience. I also appreciated the unique decor and ambiance of the restaurant, particularly the lavish lights adorning the overhead ceiling. It added a special touch to the dining atmosphere. Overall, Special Noodle offers a memorable dining experience with its delicious food, excellent service, and charming ambiance. I highly recommend giving it a try."
"Food: Steamed pork dumplings were delicious. A little on the sweet side. I would recommend this dish Red Oil Pork wontons were very good here. You get a lot and the flavors are amazing. In terms of spice, it is moderate. Meat kababs were very overrated. The beef tasted chewy and salty. The roasted intestine tasted a little better. The roast beef tendon also had the same issue. I would pass on the kebab. The spicy beef noodle soup here is definitely good. Better than most places I tried. They don't over do the spice, which numbs your mouth. Plenty of beef meat and one half boiled egg. Pork ear green onion taste like any other Chinese restaurant. Service: Had no server came up to us until we order on our own through the QR code. They forgot a spoon. They were quick to bring the food and check. They were also helpful in terms of putting your food to go. Ambience: Definitely has an Asian street vibe with all the neon light. Plenty of seats. The restaurant is mostly dark. The fish tanks are a bonus to enjoy. Parking: Shared parking with all the other businesses. It can be tough to find parking during peak times."
"Ive been passing by this place for years even with all the bright fancy lights in front of it. Went yesterday with a group. We All Loved it! Food was Amazing and the customer service was even better! Definitely will be going back Asap."
"QR code to order, I cannot give them high mark in this area. This is their restaurant #8 in the Bay Area. I think I have tried Milpitas and North Fremont Area (Jarvis) before they moved here. It’s currently grand open. They took over a previous Sichuan restaurant has some great decor and made it better (see pictures). They have pastry, BBQ and regular chef. I think you will find what you like here. They have a chef special sweet and soup pork dish that don’t have a red/orange sauce which is very unique. I don’t think other chef at the other locations will know how to make this dish. This place also closed at 2am weekday not just weekend. I don’t know if too many restaurant will open this late for hungry owls."
"Lost my review somehow so I hope I got everything down again. Love that they're open till 2am. My favorite thing is that there are tables with individual fish tanks to watch while you wait (and while you eat, if you choose). Food is decent for late-night. Oddly they have a very American dish, chop suey (invented in San Francisco during the building of the railroads, when many Chinese-Americans were exploited literally to death), in a very un-American flavor, pork blood. I wonder who orders this. It's like getting your peanut butter in my chocolate, only your peanut butter is tripe. Xlb (xiao long bao/soup dumplings) are a bit bland for xlb but good especially with black vinegar. I'm just glad they're not sweet or too gingery. Eat them asap while they're still hot and juicy. Just be careful not to burn your mouth. Beef chow fun (gnau haw), a standard, was good. Ironically the mandatory hand-washing sign is hidden by the soap dispenser in the restroom, lol."
