"My family ordered food to be delivered. We ordered sweet-and-sour pork ,beef and tomato chow mein and Mongolian beef - sweet-and-sour pork taste like fries shoe leatherMongolian beef taste like raw shoeleather beef, and tomato chow mein ? i if they are going to charge expensive prices at least have good quality food never again will we purchase from Emmys after no compensation, when calling in on such a bad meal"
"I keep ordering ridiculously overpriced hot and sour soup hoping one day I will get the seafood/bbq pork/mushroom spicy goodness I am used to in Toronto and I’m here, once again, disappointed. But at least this one has SOME meat (maybe pork?) but not spicy AT ALL. tastes like water but I added 1.5tablespoons of sriracha and now it’s okay…. Honey walnut prawns were fresh and yummy but at $19, more than $1/shrimp with this tiny portion size. Chicken chow mein is hilariously bad. Chicken wings $13 for 5 wings…. But happy they packed sauce on the side so still crispy to eat and made it a bit of a fun eating experience. ALSO I could use the sauce to pour in the chow mein to make it edible. Great!! But tell me, Why is San Francisco Chinese food so bad?!?!? Help!!! Who are these people giving five star reviews?! This food was edible, fresh and well-packaged for delivery, but far from what I would call “good”."
"Great food done quick, the interior leaves alot to be desired but the food was great."
"It really hurts to finally write this review. My family and I have been going to Emmy’s while they were still on Monterey Blvd when I was still a kid over 20 years ago! However, Emmy’s has been declining specially the last three years. The prices keep going up but the portions are smaller and the flavors are more bland perhaps to cater to the non-Asian customers. I would order wor wonton soup, and they didn’t use to have bochoy in them so I was getting charged $1 extra to add them. That was fine except they never put enough broth. I was lucky to get even two tablespoons of broth! I had to ask for more broth each time! Finally, bochoy just became a staple of the wor wonton soup. Today, the woman on the phone said she would add broth but she didn’t say she would charge me $3.50 for a tiny amount of broth that really should’ve been part of the SOUP I ordered. In other Asian restaurants, they put the soups in two containers to make sure there are plenty of broth and other ingredients. I was also never charged by Emmy’s before for extra broth! I used to order oysters with ginger & green onion but I stopped when they only put 3 oysters last time. Two prior orders only had 4-5 oysters. When I first ordered the dish there were always 6+. The deep fried flounder that we used to order almost all the time was ordered less often the last six months. The price kept getting higher but the fish kept getting smaller. The very last time I ordered, I paid for two hot and sour soups but they only delivered one. Today was the final straw. The woman was talking in Chinese to others while she was on the phone with me. She also did not say I was getting charged for the extra broth. When the driver called to clarify the price, she said she charged me $3.50 for the extra broth which I used to get for free. My calculations also indicated, she actually charged me $5. Then, I actually had to add salt and pepper just so I could taste something! Bland, bland, bland! Ma po tofu is supposed to be spicy! Description even indicated spicy. It was blander than bland. My mom who thinks a little bit of pepper is spicy thinks this is bland! I had to add pepper and hot sauce! The driver is an older gentleman who actually understands customer service when clearly his female boss does not. In the last few years, I would order by calling them directly or used platforms like Eat24, Grub Hub, and Amazon when they have promotions. 20+ years of Emmy’s but higher prices, less portions, overcharges, no broth soups, bland foods, and management failures, I will have to order elsewhere. I’ve had better Chinese food in recent years but loyalty and the deep fried flounder were the only reasons I still ordered there. Loyalty finally ends today."
"Good Cantonese cuisine if you need that fix. Portion sizes are insane! I did feel a bit weird in the stomach after eating there though."
