"This was our first time at La Placa and definitely won’t be the last. We each got our own pizzas and calzones everyone loved their choice. Our 11 year old asked if we could go back the very next day. For dessert we had dark chocolate, peanut butter and banana caramel gelato all three were the best we had outside of Italy. The staff was amazing the scenery was perfect.. it was a perfect way to end the week."

"Jonathan and I stopped in here, but we were really looking for more substantial fare than pizza, so we went across the street to Cafe Nostra (separate review), but when we were done there we were just too full to truly enjoy anything on offer- even gelato! The pastry case was filled with airy golden puff pastry filled with all manner of fruits, and gorgeous Italian cookies, so we got a few pastries for the next morning's breakfast. 4 substantial pastries filled with luscious fresh blackberries, strawberries, almonds toasted to perfection and creamy custard... you can see from the photo, nothing is left but crumbs, that probably won't last long beyond the writing of this review."

"This place is hidden in Ben Lomond, located in beautiful Santa Cruz mountains off hwy9 surrounded by Redwoods. If you are hungry after your hikes in redwoods and crave for marzipan based cookies or items, this is the place to go. They have a good selection of baked items, pizzas, desserts and many other options. This review is primarily for desserts and Marzipan (almond) bakery items. As a marzipan fan, tried everything they make using almond paste. Some are okay, few stay on the top of the list. Creme brulee was the best of their desserts I tried. Tiramisu is okay. Among the marzipan items, always favorite is the one with fruit jelly fill even though it is on the sweeter side. Less sweeter ones are topped with nuts like walnuts, pumpkin seeds, almonds, pistachio etc. Highly recommend this place if you look for quality marzipan items."
