About Us
Cafe Platano 2 is a beloved institution located at 3612 International Boulevard in Oakland, California. Our mission is to bring the vibrant culture and delicious cuisine of El Salvador to the heart of Oakland. Chef Nicolas and his brother Juan are dedicated to preserving the authentic flavors of Central America in the Bay Area.
Since our opening in Berkeley in 2006, Cafe Platano has expanded to multiple locations including Tracy and Stockton. Our specialties include pupusas, thick stuffed tortillas served with curtido and salsa, as well as our famous Mar y Tierra dish featuring grilled New York steak and seasoned shrimp.
