"Very disappointed. This is the first negative review I’ve ever made, and it doesn’t come lightly. I do a lot of mechanical work myself and so don’t often take cars to the shop, but I’ve known the Halls for 20 years and they were always honest and fair with me. Unfortunately, that was not the case recently. My wife’s car quit running on her while I was at work, and she had it towed to Halls to save me the headache. They came back with a diagnosis of a faulty fuel pump. They wanted $1150 to fix the problem. I told them no thank you and had the car towed back to my house after paying them $150 for a diagnostic fee. After getting the car to my house, I got a new fuel pump for $450 (they were going to charge me $750 for the same part + $400 labor) and got to work. When I took out the old fuel pump, which was corroded and dirty and looked as though it had never been touched, I realized the car was out of gas. I put the fuel pump back in and put some gas in it, and the car started up after a few cranks. So, I was going to be charged $1150 for being out of gas. Now, mistakes happen and I went back up to try and make things right. I told him what happened and asked for a refund on my diagnosis fee for an improper diagnosis. He refused and stated that if I would have agreed to his crazy upcharges that he would have realized it was out of gas as well and not have charged me for the overpriced fuel pump. I stated my case and asked if he was sure this is how he wanted to run his business. He stated that it was. Now, I understand upcharging for parts because it’s another revenue stream for the business outside of labor. But a 60% markup for a part is outrageous. And he stated that it came with a three year guarantee for replacement. That’s fine but the part had a lifetime guarantee already, so all he was guaranteeing is his labor cost. I would have accepted even a partial refund of the diagnostic fee because I understand that businesses exist to make money, and no one’s time is free. But for $150 Halls earned this negative review and the loss of a customer of over 20 years. I miss my dad’s generation just like I miss working with John’s father and mother. That generation knew how to keep your business and understood the value of integrity. Unfortunately, that seems all but lost these days. I pray that you do not have a similar experience if you choose to use their service."
"Friendly and open mechanics who will be honest with you about your vehicle. Highly recommend."
"My car was repaired at a reasonable price as quoted in a very timely manner. Perfect transaction. Car running great Very pleased."
"In today's world, it is rare to find a reasonable, trustworthy and friendly repair shop. Hall's is definitely one of those very rare finds. For those saying they try to sell you all those extra things you didn't ask for, it's done for a reason. They want any vehicle leaving their yard to be mechanically safe and sound. All vehicles are checked out radiator to tailpipe and any issues found are reported to you. It is entirely your choice whether you have the repairs done or not. My last trip there, I asked them to replace a fairly expensive part and they tried to talk me out of it. They don't repair or replace anything that doesn't need it and not without your knowledge and consent. Now that's honesty!! Hard to find these days. Highly recommend them."
"I bought tires online because its way cheaper, then call Hall's to install them. They advised that they do not install any tires other than their own. Kinda silly to me. I will not do anymore business with them. Thanks for nothing. Update...He had the gall to call me back after seeing this review and told me that I was taking food off his table for writing a truthful review. Thats the kind of customer service we are dealing with. He is taking the food off of his own table by acting like that! I'm sure I'll be receiving another call soon for this update."
