Reviews of Oliver Royale
"This is a pricey place, but the food is still good (not for the price, but still good); to me, it's the service that will bring us back. Kirstie was our phenominal waitress and she did an amazing job taking care of our group and keeping the table from being over crowded. The atmosphere, while dark, was still nice; it was a comfortable place to be in, though thei chairs feel rickety and unstable if I'm being honest. The kale ceasar was good; we also had their mussels, the beet salad, and some truffle fries to share. I don't know how to describe it, but everything had a hint of sweetness that was a big turn off for me. We ended the meal with the cinnamon roll cheesecake (to DIE for) and the caramel pecan upside-down cake (fine; very dry). I had the petite filet and subbed brussels in for their mashed potatoes (both of which also had the hint of sweetness mentioned above). I think the goal was complexity of flavor, the the balancing swayed into the sweet directions. That said, no plate was left uncleaned (because of the cost if I'm being honest), and other meals ordered by the group included the trout, mushroom ravioli, shortrib (only one left unfinished), and the salmon if I recall. Their margarita was phenominal, though the drink service is a bit slow; they also have great dessert wines to pick from (my husband and a friend did a ruby port). All that to say that the food is over-priced in my opinion, but the service is great. You leave happy overall."
"My husband took me here for a date before a comedy show. He did have to make a reservation. We were a little late because of the terrible traffic but we called and they kept our table thankfully. I ordered mushroom toast and we got that and some bread and butter as appetizers. (I was hungry. You have to ask for the bread because they don’t just bring it.). They were both very tasty and delicious. My husband ordered the pork chop and the whipped potatoes. I ordered the salmon and truffle fries. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the truffle fries were good too. Afterwards I ordered the chocolate torte. It was chocolate and fudgy. It was so good. We shared it but I ate most of it and I didn’t even feel bad. It was totally worth it."
"The service was *almost* better than the food. Considering the pork belly appetizer was one of the best pork belly’s I’ve ever had, that’s high praise. The sticky chocolate cake paired with a freshly made espresso martini was absolute heaven. I was still little hungry after eating the steak but the fries and cake helped fill the void."
"We were staying at the Oliver Hotel for two nights and we loved the food so much we decided to get dinner here both nights. We got salads both times, and both were deliciously fresh and had great flavors. Their menu is seasonal but if you happen to see the Confit Duck Pappardelle on the menu - get it. It was the best item we had. I also had the Fall Orecchiette but found it was just a little too sweet for me - there's a kale and butternut squash salad that is very similar (minus the pasta) so get that instead if you're in the mood for a fall harvest."
"The Oliver Royale is a quaint little restaurant tucked into Market Square. It’s not exactly large, would recommend reservations. I prefer tables that comfortably fit two adults with some arm room so I wasn’t thrilled about the corner seat with the tiny table. However overall the food and drinks were made to perfection. I had the rabbit quarter covered in grits and it was mildly spicy but extremely tender. The Bison steak was also delicious and a generous portion. Staff was great and very attentive. Would make a great date night spot."
