Helen's Hot Chicken

"I usually like this location a lot. But today, it was terrible. This was my first time ordering in about 5 months, so I guess it went downhill. I work 2 mins from here and ordered for lunch: the catfish combo with fries and a drink. I ordered my hot catfish “Hella” hot and it was completely plain. I’ve ordered it hell hot before and this was not it. It had nothing on it. No heat at all. The fries were cold, soggy and OLD. I paid for two ranch and received zero. My drink was very watered down. Definitely disappointed for the amount I spent."

"It was pretty weird to walk into a place looking for hot chicken and catfish to find out it's also a club, but the food was fire, and if nothing else it made the night more interesting. The catfish fantastic, hot chicken sando was delicious, the fried okra was top tier. Definitely will be back for more."

"Just happened upon this place while looking for a shoe store. We got Gizzards, chicken strips, and fried okra. It was all so good!! Probably some of the best chicken fingers we've ever had. The okra was reminiscent of the okra my Grandma used to make. (Mild was still a little spicy!) I would definitely recommend it!!"

"A little over two months ago, I posted about the location on Vanderbilt University campus. I gave great reviews. I raved about the food and really enjoyed the experience. I felt the exact opposite about the location across from Fisk University & Meharry Medical School. I was so disappointed. Parking was easier, but everything else was horrible. Again, I got a to go order. The wings were overcooked & oily. Got 12 wingettes. I believe she made it hot instead of mild. The catfish was good at this location also. Also got a Hot Tender Combo with Baked Beans. They were also good. The ventilation at the Jefferson location was horrible. There is better ventilation at the Scarritt Place location. Staff was very professional at the Scarritt place location. If I ever go back, it will be to the Vanderbilt Location on Scarritt Place."
