"Locust lives up to the hype. Favorites were the oysters (you HAVE to try their hot sauce) and the early gray ice (truly this was a wild desert, I have never had anything like it). We also had the horseradish vodka as a pallet cleanser for the seafood, and boy, it was wild. The atmosphere is relaxed, and everyone working is just having a great time."
"Our experience at Locust was incredible from start to finish. From the moment we were greeted at the door, welcomed by the staff inside, to the moment we walked out, the entire experience was so welcoming and warm. Everyone was so kind, helpful, and sharply knowledgeable. I cannot say enough about the menu. We both started with arguably the best unfiltered orange wine that I have ever had, then moving to the horseradish vodka shot, absolutely wild and a great palate cleanser. We started with the tuna crisp, razor clams (both of our first time, delicious), and beef tartare hand rolls (super fun, some of the most flavorful beef I have ever had, and the instruction card made us laugh). Next we got the Berkshire pork dumplings (such nice flavor and texture, and the chili oil went super hard). The crab omelet was one of the best things I have ever had genuinely. The consistency of the egg, thickness wise and texture wise was so impressive, also the still gooey egg in the center melting into the crab was just something else. Absolutely killer. Lastly I knew we had to get the shaved ice, and it did not disappoint. The tart raspberry, silky earl grey mouse, and dusting of salt was complex and enjoyable. I am so happy my friend and I got a chance to experience Locust and the mastery of Chef Moran and the entire team in this meal."
"We came here with another couple during the 5pm seating. Ordered one of everything on the menu plus a few bottles of wine. And hot tea for me. Would I have rather had a carefully crafted cocktail or two? Absolutely. That was my only disappointment with the restaurant. Although the horseradish vodka? Heaven. If I weren't driving, maybe I would have done shot after shot. So unique. Went so well with the oysters and clams. Speaking of the razor clams... one of the best things on the menu. I didn't realize I liked clams honestly AND I'm not a straight up vodka (or any liquor for that matter) drinker. Definitely don't miss the beef tartare. Phenomenal. We had it with the black truffles on top. It was just amazing. The white truffle risotto was delicious as well. Now was it worth $60 for that small portion? Lol No. But hey, we had to try everything and it was definitely satisfying. I really enjoyed the coolea, all the flavors together...it was on point. I could have had a slice of potato bread all to myself dipped in the butter on the sole dish. The ice desert was very tasty. Like snow cream. I was more interested in the little choux pastry birthday desserts that a few tables had. Urgh. I should have mentioned it was my something and a quarter birthday. We finished well after 7, but we did have a few bottles of wine. SO sorry to whoever was waiting outside in the cold for our table. (They will politely beg you to leave if they have to.) The staff was fabulous and they gave an extremely enthusiastic greeting when we entered! I was so happy they were so happy we finally got to dine with them! Beautiful, intimate restaurant that was worth the wait!"
"One of the most anticipated restaurants based on my friends and yelpers raving about this place. I'm going to start off with saying the staff was very friendly and service was great. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. We got almost everything on the menu except the beef tartare, horseradish vodka and the cheese pastry board. My favorite was the shaved ice. Nice and refreshing on a hot day! There was some sort of passion fruit custard in the middle that was delightful. They overdid the "air" on top of the sole and dumplings. Seriously... I thought it took away from the dishes. Made the dish so unappetizing to me. The lamb dumplings were too gamey for my taste. The sole seem overcooked. I was told by a friend that I should've tasted the butter. I didn't. The crab salad was tasty along with the curry powdered chips was an interesting combo but l've had better. The oysters weren't anything special. Razor clams were good. Simple. Easy street parking in front on a Sunday."
"Absolutely incredible! One of my top 5 favorite meals I've ever had! Everything was phenomenal from the drinks, to the food, to the service. I'm still dreaming about those beef tartare hand rolls. Can't wait to snag my next reservation!"
