"I celebrated my birthday with my parents at this restaurant yesterday night, even though a dental/jaw surgery I had left me unable to chew for longer than anticipated. I figured I could drink their cocktails (doctor approved) and have their soup and be more than fine. As it turns out, my mother called the restaurant ahead of time. I expected them to simply give a list of soups and other dishes I could have, but come time to dinner I find out the Chef and Sous Chef actually planned out an entire entrée specifically for me: mashed potatoes with gravy and a puréed prime rib. I was able to have other dishes like their lobster soup and broiled oysters (slowly, and without the sausage) and they even pulled a chocolate moose dessert from the bar for me. The Sous Chef even walked out to greet me! Suffice to say, it all meant so much to me I’m leaving my first review (lol). A restaurant of this caliber has no reason to go out of their way, during a Holiday no less, but their kindness meant so much to me I wanted to share. As for 1799 as a whole, the atmosphere was cozy and whimsical, servers and hosts were friendly and the food was delicious. May I remind you they served me a puréed prime rib (meaning it was mush) and it was STILL really exceptional! Looking forward to coming back to try the standard, chewable variant."
"We went half an hour before close and they had a nice champagne and cocktails. The bartender was friendly and didn't hurry us off. Ambience and interiors are nice."
"My wife and I finished up our date night here. We only ordered a drink at the bar so this review does not reflect anything on the restaurant (but it did look really nice). The bar service was decently quick and the bartender blew my wife away with THE best amaretto sour she has ever experienced. The price was a tad high but for the craftsmanship that was put into making it, it was worth the price. The live music was good but loud for what we wanted so we enjoyed the outside seating area. It wasn't overly crowded but had a steady flow of people. All in all, we would come back and not only try the restaurant but also staycation a night or two at the hotel."
"Visiting from Atlanta, food was absolutely incredible and service was top notch. Perfect for a date night / Girls night out if you want to be served by Patrick Dempsey. Jimmy kept us laughing all night and truly made our night special. We’ll be back."
"Way over rated for what it cost to eat here. Service was not too good, didn't even refill my kids glasses after their first drink. Never asked if we wanted more drinks, the best part was the atmosphere and the Cornish hen dish. Also, we had shrimp and grits, two orders and one was very watery and the other good and so not very consistent on quality. The Branzino was super dry and over cooked. Sweet Onion bisque was delicious. Would I come back? possible so, but when's there's better eats downtown franklin may look elsewhere."
