"Great atmosphere and nice folks, but the $150 cost of high tea is insanely expensive for what you get, which is tea and 3 slices of banana bread, 6 small tea biscuits, 3 tea-size pimento cheese sandwiches, 3 tea-size strawberry cream sandwiches, (both seemed to be made from packaged sandwich bread), 3 shortbread cookies, and 3 little cream puffs that definitely came out of the freezer. I'd understand paying that much at the Ritz, but not in Donelson and not for the food you get. $50 total would be a much more reasonable price for the experience."
"Delicious and delightful! My only hesitation is the value of the tea reservations - for 2 (flavors) cups of tea, 3-4 baked goods, and table service is worth $30 per person rather than $50 + tip. It’s a fun experience but far easier to just order at the counter and hope for an open table. I’d also add that the hot water for tea could certainly be hotter for better steeping and it grows cold quickly in the (albeit adorable) teapot."
"This place is a treasure and a relaxing place to sip on some tea chatting with friends. The atmosphere is lovely, inviting, and full of alluring aromas. It feels like home, and you can tell a lot of thought was put into the setup. Our day started out rough after missing a flight, but visiting the Troll House Cottage brightened everything back up again. Great place and people! I highly recommend the Chai tea (cant remember the exact one because there are several). The tea cups and kettle are so dainty. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes tea, art, and a vibrant, peaceful atmosphere. They have a good sense of humor there too - I love the bathroom wallpaper."
"Loved the concept and the staff. This place is not suited for foodies and a place to enjoy meals: lunch or dinner. I would have enjoyed it more if I came for tea and snacks but we came for lunch. Lots of different items for sale in the restaurant but I wish they had less items and more seating. Felt very crowded and over stuffed. Their back yard was very large and a great place to put some outdoor seating. That would have been more enjoyable. Maybe in the future... sourdough bread should not be used for every sandwich since it is overpowering."
"One of Donelson’s gems! I took my daughter here for a Cottage Tea over her fall break. We absolutely loved it! Delicious food. Delicious drinks. Friendly service and the atmosphere was so warm and inviting. A bonus is you can also shop for some really cool and unique artisan items from pet treats to succulents. We were lucky and we got to try the brand new seasonal muffin Pumpkin Pecan. So good! If you love Oolong Tea they have one from High Garden Tea that was beyond a 10. They serve breakfast and lunch as well. Get yourself to Troll House Cottage and you will fall in love I promise!"
