Reviews of George Bush Park
"This park is a natural beauty. I enjoyed hiking on the tranquil, beautiful Noble Road Trail, one of the off-the-path trails that run off the main George Bush Park Hike and Bike Trail."
"In case you are looking for a reasonable hike in Katy area to escape the concrete jungle for a little while, try George Bush hiking trail. It starts on corner of Highland Knolls Dr and S Fry Rd. Drop your car at Walgreens car park and cross the street. There is an access path to the park. The main trail in the park is concrete base ( good for cycling and roller skating) but you should take the northern loop into the forest towards the Bayou. A lot of wildlife can be see there and you are in the middle of some descent nature. In case you take your dog, you need to keep on the leash though."
"It's one of the best cycling spots in Houston. From Jr Sargent Park to the mid parking spot, you have a solid 6 miles where you can ramp up to 30mph. There are almost no people around because it's a good distance away from any houses and sources of water. Toward the southern end, it's more populated, but even then, it's a fraction of other parks. Great for nature and exercise types. A must for locals that need to get away. I will caution you to avoid it after it's rained a while. The northern end floods over the road often. Also, bring your own drinks. There are no places to fill a bottle. If you need water, the closest spots are JrSargent and over the bridge at the soccer park on Westheimer. I will say that fountain yields some questionable water, so it's best to bring your own. Also, on the southern end, there are plenty of benches in the shade and most look out over the Bayou."
"Pretty fun park for bikes. I tried taking my roller blades on the path and it didn’t work out; little too bumpy. On a bike however it’s pretty fun. One thing to watch out for would be that the paths are rather prone to flooding. Even when it hasn’t rained in weeks (that I’m aware of) several parts of the paved path were underwater. Also, not saying you should, but I rode without a helmet and everyone seemed to leave me alone about it which was nice. Certainly worth checking out if you’re in the area."
