"PLEASE READ!! Last night my husband and daughter along with her friends were looking at posters at the Harlem and Irving plaza in Norridge Illinois. I try so hard to be kind to store workers because I deal with anxiety and I give them amazing props My daughter and her friends are 11 year olds in 6 grade and if anyone reading this I think it’s safe to say being 11 years old today is literally like being 16 years old. They want to be mature and look cool. Also my husband being the helicopter parent he stays pretty much close to our daughter with some breathing air. Now I can lie and say I feel as this particular worker stereotyped my daughter in some way, but I don’t need to do that, and all parents seen our fair share of obnoxious, dramatic, disrespectful children. Also as a parent we think our children are.perfect. The thing is if I can point out and obnoxious child than I feel as if I notice if my daughter is acting the same. Well my daughter is simply looking through the posters with her friends laughing and this lady worker literally shouts at my daughter and tells her to quit doing that and that she’s not at home. My daughter is highly sensitive and gets teary and apologizes saying she didn’t realize and at that moment my husband stood next to my daughter asking what the problem was. she replied, with a very bad attitude, telling my husband that he needs to teach my daughter how to act when she is out in public. I won’t lie my husband snapped! he told the lady that if she had a problem with our daughter that she could’ve spoken to him because my daughter is a minor, and that she has no authority to yell at her in such a way. he speaks to the manager, he did not take the situation seriously and in fact, blamed my daughter. my husband had to leave the store because he didn’t want to say or react in a way that he would regret in front of my daughter and her friends. I call the store to speak to the manager hoping I can find reason with him being maybe I am able to be more patient, I ask for the manger and ask to make a complaint on a worker who spoke to my daughter in an unnecessary manner. This man said that his employee did nothing wrong, and that I should teach my daughter how to behave outside of the house. I stay perfectly calm but angry and I am like I can’t believe this is what I’m hearing but I’m gonna try to reason with you here and I tell him that if the rules were in reverse and he was shopping with his daughter and a coworker shouted at his daughter, wouldn’t he think that it would be in the best interest that the coworkers spoke to him instead of shouting at his daughter and his reply to me was well. My daughter was acting belligerent as your daughter was, then I wouldn’t mind. I am 36 years old and never in my life. Have I heard a worker say such an insulting thing. granted this is five below I can only imagine what they go through with children but if you consider the way, the posters are displayed and those black frames obviously it is going to make noise and if girls are acting a little silly, maybe it’s a little louder, but it isn’t as loud as a two-year-old, slamming it per se. Well, I know for a fact that my daughter could have not been behaving that way because she’s never behaved that rate in the last few years. I gave him a simple solution I ask him can I come to the store the very next day, see the video footage of my daughter, slamming the posters, and if she was that I personally would apologize to the manager and the worker and I will have my daughter apologize, after a few seconds this man manager tells there is no audio in which I reply, that’s perfectly fine, because if she was slamming it, the way you said I would be able to see by her actions . This man just told me to teach my daughter how to act when she’s in public, and abruptly hung up. I plan on sharing this in hopes it will give my daughter some justification that how they treated her was wrong. My daughter never wants to go back to the five below. She said that she was scared, embarrassed and didn’t want to go back."
"Very clean, convenient, and easy to find products. I was shocked to know they had pet items. I got some dog cleaning products."
"When five and below open up , I remember buying many items, but one specific item that I bought a lot of from this place is the cell phone charger, The only problem is after one month of use it. It stop working. That is why I appreciate your old policy that you could bring the item back and exchange it for a new one without the receipt or the box which was very nice and convenient. However, I understand why they enforce the new policy. It is understandable. The only thing I asked as a customer for them to please display this type of information in front of the store, so that we are aware of it. Also as a loyal customer that has shop at the brickyard location since it open up and many other locations. I recommend that you guys make us well informed about your new policy by placing signs in-front of the store. so that there’s no confusion. My other recommendation is to please retrain your store manager Josh at the brickyard location. He is rude condescending and disrespectful for someone That represents five and below & hold search title as a manager he is not only rude but very condescending and disrespectful towards the customer and employee such attitude should not be tolerated let alone accepted.."
"I’m giving a one star because I had an in-store pick up order that I did online. It says online it takes about 4 hours for the orders to be ready for pickup. I came after 5 hours and they didn’t have my order in stock. I didn’t get no email, call or anything saying that they didn’t have it in stock. Even though it said it was in stock online. This is very inconvenient for me because I came outta my way to pick up this order in the rain too. Please do better with the in-store orders because this is ridiculous and I still haven’t gotten a refund yet or even an email stating that it wasn’t in stock. It seemed like the staff just didn’t bother looking at the order. Never coming back."
"At Five Below you will find things for five dollars and below and things also for five dollars and above. Sort of along the premise of the dollar store, good luck finding anything there for a dollar anymore. And you also get to be an employee since you will be checking your own items at the register. Brightly lit store, sometimes an organized but a decent variety and good employees"
