"You dont own the lake. Putting up rope to block access to public waters is rude and inappropriate. I will be notifying the APD lake patrol to get this removed, so all boaters can enjoy all the water on the lake."

"If you want to waste your entire morning, drive out to this beautiful park so you can see the closed sign. They mention a calendar of events on their webpage, that doesn't exist. They have barely touched Facebook,Twitter or their webpage in over 6 years. You can call their phone number and never speak to a person, which they tell you to call before you come. They do not answer email on either account they have about park availability as well. I made over 20 phone calls during the week and after their opening time, to only get their prerecorded message. YMMV"

"I have been going to WLB for over 25 years and I love that place. It's like stepping back in time - in a very good way. So peaceful and relaxing, it's a great place for a small party, family reunion or simple picnic. They have the only sheltered sand beach that I know of on the lake, which is great for kids of all ages. The water depth gradually increases as you move out into the lake with a sandy bottom that's easy on the feet. It's a very convenient place to keep a boat too. The Depwes are great people, carrying on a family tradition that started in the 1950's. This place ranks up there with Barton Springs and Deep Eddy pool as true Austin icons. Check it out!"

"West Lake Beach was a fine spot to get down by the water and enjoy a pleasant weekend afternoon. They have a pavilion with picnic tables for eating, available barbecue pits for cooking, lake swimming, volleyball court, and lots of tree-shaded grassy open areas. It was very pleasant, and was a great place to take the kids to enjoy some lakeside fun."
