"I was very excited to go to Zion beach as it is located in the wealthy suburbs of North Chicago. I was disappointed to see the State Park was is poor condition. The rocks bordering the lake were showing the landscape fabric, the cement was broken, the plant landscape needed much attention. There was a lot of orange barriers to crumbling structures. The water seems clean but definitely is a good idea to bring water shoes because the lake floor is rocky. There are not many state parks by the lake in Illinois so it is sad this park has been neglected. Did not saw any park rangers. But saw two women with dogs on the beach which does not allow dogs. If you are in the area is definitely worth stopping by and see the view. But is not worth driving an hour to visit this park until is maintained properly. It is closed Saturday and Sunday during COVID19."
