"I've lived in this neighborhood and fished in this lake my entire life. The lake is connected to the poplar creek water system and the fishing can be VERY good depending on how deep the previous winter freeze was. The park district stocked bass, channel catfish, and northern pike in 2019. We got a few 3+ lb bass and catfish in the late summer on medium shiners under a bobber. You can also get decent crappie action in April. Chestnut is regularly home to blue herons, muskrats, and coyotes and you may even spot a beaver passing through."
