Reviews of Rainbow Hills Park Picnic & Walking Trails
"Great place to walk with family. The only water fountains and restrooms are located on the park side"
"Park is nice and friendly. Becareful standing on the ground, my friends and i stepped on an aunt pile that was hidden. When we looked down it didnt even look like one."
"Love this park. There's not much to it. But my kids love playing basketball while I go walk on the trail."
"Really nice little park with so many amenities. For a park, it was, surprisingly, really clean, including the bathrooms! Great place to take the family!"
"I love this park because there is spacious area for me to walk my Blue Heeler along the winding trails leading from 3 different areas of the park. If we wanna walk from our home, it's just shy of 2 blocks from our home to reach the secret trail leading to the footbridge closest to the mini dog park. If we are road doggin' in the Jeep, we'll park in the little known lot off of Horal. If we plan on spending some extended time walking around the soccer fields, play Pokemon, enjoy a bbq, watch a friendly competition of basketball or need clean restroom access, we'll choose to park closest to the Jean Yates Community Center off of Hunt Lane & Rasa. We can access the large park from many different access points dependent upon how long we plan to spend, which activities are planned for the day & how many people we may wanna encounter on any given day depending on the weather, the time of day, my dog's current energy level & the amount of time we have to chill. This park is open early & closes at 11p so plenty of time 7 days a week to enjoy! The park is well lit for the most part and I've enjoyed watching it grow and improve over the past 10 years...it's come a long way and our community fought to keep the park versus the city attempting to renovate the land and turn it into public housing. It's given the youth and families in the Rainbow Hills neighborhood a free, recreational & healthy location to enjoy as there is something for everyone and they continue to upgrade as time goes on. The donated little library offers free items to anyone in need or curious, the recently added 1/2 court was created to accommodate the basketball overflow, the newly covered picnic areas and extra park benches are awesome during those hot summer days and the free classes & programs at the center are just a few of the upgrades that this park offers... As a long standing, appreciative neighbor, friend & "at risk" youth advocate as part of my profession & resident of the far Westside, I can only hope that our local community continues to help support the park, its endeavors in providing a magnificent place of respite & relaxation for all & respect one another so to see the continued endeavors of city improvements by the Parks & Recreation Dept. as they add new features all the time. Rainbow Hills Park is safe, fun, popular and a very welcoming public park open and free for all Bexar County residents to enjoy. No HOA creates limits & it is monitored frequently by 2 kind, friendly patrol officers who protect the park IF ever there may be a concern...in over 10 years, I've had zero issues, other than a pet peeve, that some pet owners tend NOT to utilize the doggie bags provided along the trails, to keep their pet's excrements tidy... Come visit anytime as it's not a park that disappoints!!!"
