"A mud pit most days. I’ve asked that they consider mulching the muddy areas and they said they don’t mulch the dog parks. They have, so this person apparently isn’t involved with that. More modern dog parks have rinse off stations - this one does not. So a trip to the dog park becomes a commitment to dog baths and car detailing after a visit. Pass"
"This place is nice but you have to watch your car because of the low life bums that break into peoples car when you go to walk. They still didn’t install cameras or have people on dutie not to mention they don’t have anything special that keeps aggressive dogs out. Just last week three cars broken into I think we’ll go to a different dog park that takes care of their paying customers."
"This park offers open space, bike trails, mowed trails, pavilions, prairie, marsh, historic relics, large and small dog park, fishing, kayaking, wildlife, deer, trees and overall pristine natural beauty. It’s a hidden gem that has different personalities each season of the year and time of the day. Hope you go enjoy this beautiful nature preserve."
"If we still lived in the area, we definitely would have continued our membership. Absolutely worth every penny, assuming you actually bring your dog. The park is gigantic and is split up into two sides. This allows for the grass to heal on one side and not get too muddy. The park rangers do come and check for passes from time to time so if you intend on trying to sneak in for free, be wary that they actually do check. Overall, the park is very well maintained. Owners who go here are responsible and actually clean up after their dogs. We now live closer to a free park which is nice, but the size and quality of Whalon Lake is unmatched."
"Bike/ walk trails, picnic tables and grills available, beautiful scenery. A bit of city noise so not a total escape from it but pretty close. We saw herons, geese, ducks, turtles... veeeeeery lively there with animals."
