"Absolutely cool place to spend the day fossil hunting with the kids. Bring a bucket and explore the area to find a fossil. Some areas you must hike to be prepared for a workout. Do research before going some areas are difficult to find unless you go to the main entrance and get a map."
"This is a perfect peaceful place to kayak! It has a great launch. We also managed to find a trilobite fossil along the shoreline and a few shells."
"Amazing experience. Such a unique place in IL. Kinda had Yellowstone vibes in certain areas"
"I came all the way from Wisconsin to fossil hunt here. What a joke compared to other fossil parks in America. With that six what can be done to fix to make the place better for families and hobby enjoyers is to increase signs. Make a fossil program for children, and listen the community more. They want the site at one redone, it has become overgrown, and the site at 3 where I finally found fossils they would like expanded. Do these things and Iโm sure the us place will draw in tourists."
"I found a fossil on my first trip fossil hunting at the recommended location at the park as detailed on the available park maps at the main office. Highly recommended for people who aren't afraid of pushing past prickly thorns and pulling up exposed rocks from the ground, off trails exploration is dirty. Bring a nice source of water like a backpack with a hydration bladder, your field notes recording instruments, and a first aid kit just to be safe. Obviously you may be armed, but of course in full accordance with the law."
