"Awesome place to spend the day on a cool day. Very unique place and awesome to find it here in the valley. It's about a mile and a half walk from the parking lot to the lake shore along a dirt road. It was a nice walk in this cool day."
"USE the East Trailhead off Brushline Rd. Unless you want a 3 mile round trip. The East Trail head is only about a 3/4 mile roundtrip. It also has pit toliets that were nice and clean when I was there. Nice area. If you want to walk out on lake bring water shoes. Bug spray too during wet season."
"Stunning! This was a great excursion for my family. We parked in the lot closest to the lake and it was a easy .5 mile walk in. There is a nice lookout to stand on and take pictures at the edge with informational signs. Walking out on the lake itself was like being in a science-fiction movie. On the walk back we saw several javelinas. It was a 100+ day and only there is only partial shade on the walk in and out so bring water, wear a hat, and know your limits."
"This place is amazing. To access the lake, you can park in the small parking off U.S. 186, but its about a 3 mile hike to get to the lake. The shorter hike (and the one we did - about 1 mile hike each way) can be accessed by parking in the small parking lot on the north side of the lake off Brushline Road. It took us a few minutes to figure out where the parking lots where but it’s worth it. We went in January and the hike was very hot and there’s not a lot of shade. Bring lots of water, and maybe aqua shoes or flip flops if you want to walk out into the lake, as the salt can hurt on the bottom of your feet. The viewing deck is also nice for seeing wildlife."
"My oh my, la Sal Del Rey was spectacular! First time there so I had to go explore. Not too many people are familiar or know about this diamond in the rough so I figured I’ll put it out there so everyone so can go and enjoy. Google will take you to the main entry point which is a pretty good hike to get to the lake but, if you go past the main entrance about a mile and a half to 2 miles to Brushline Road, which I posted in one of the pictures, you make a left and then you go about a mile down the dirt road and you’ll see on your left-hand side, another little parking lot to enter the trail to the lake. That trail is about a mile in and you’ll see the entrance to the lake. It’s a beautiful walk, it was a fresh breeze, lots of trees, and some deer peeking at you through the weeds. Once you get close to the lake you will sea salt or no salt, I was hoping to walk on the salt like some of the other pictures and stories I’ve heard but the lake was pretty full this time around. Either way, the walk around the lake was extraordinary. You get to see all the foot prints of the various wildlife in that neighborhood, definitely a place to take the family. If you’re feeling an extra bit adventurous, you can walk out into the water as far as you like, up to your comfort zone I would say, and enjoy some of the fresh lake water. I have a video of another family walking out into the middle of the lake. All in all, the kids and I had a great time, definitely going back with some bikes and take a dip in the water as well. Go check this place out and if you like the pics, the videos, the stories, follow me and thumb up some of the pics and share them too. Talk soon"
