"Great hike for children and middle ages. If you have trouble with your knees though, you might want to brace them. Used to hike much more and I remembered how beautiful it was, however the rock itself needs serious attention. There is now more graffiti on the mammoth than in some ghettos. People just don't take care of parks anymore. There is spray paint graffiti up there, as in someone went up there with the intent of destroying it. The trails have fallen into minor disrepair."
"This was a tough hike! We brought our kids with us and they loved it! It was challenging in some spots and totally worth it in the end! Bring water with you in this hike, you won't regret it!"
"Great view!! Loved this hike. Trails are overlapping and can be hard to follow, so keep aware of where you are in case you need to improvise your path. Unfortunately a few spots of graffiti and trash, but mostly clean thanks to the park rangers. Be sure to pay your $5 at the self service payment booth at the start of the trail. Does get pretty tricky at times, requiring slow climbing on all fours, bordering on all out rock climbing. I found it harder than North Mount Franklin's peak, which is actually a little higher than the southern peak."
"Hiked up Franklin Mountain Range, Ron Coleman Trail from the base up the draw to Mammoth Rock. It took just under an hour to make the 1.75 mile trek up. You will be on all fours at some point so not for the beginner homer. Your reward at the top is a cool cave that the locals visit to stimulate their minds and leave tokens of their love for another."
"Difficult hike up to the top. At some places the trail is not in very good condition. The views from the top are superb. Make sure you have good shoes and plenty of water."
