"I used Steve for years, and off and on since. I find his personality somewhat jovial but reassuring. I hate paying taxes, but refuse to cheat or do anything questionable--- and we see eye to eye on that. You will have to pay everything you actually owe, but likely not a penny more. Expect to be on extension (you still have to pay the expected tax on time) if it is anywhere close to filing date. I hate to pay money to have taxes prepared and such, but his fees are reasonable and doubt that you will face audit. so worth it."

"If you hear of Stephen's services, run in the opposite direction. When I called to inquire about his services his secretary quoted me $200. I even asked if that would include the specifics. However, the bill came for $300 without any explanation and without any notice of a change to the price. Stephen had well over a month to work on our taxes. He had followed up after our original meeting asking for additional information on the interest with our mortgage, I supplied it the same day in a voicemail. We didn't hear back from Stephen for three weeks so my husband called to check in the week before taxes were due, and he acted as if he had never received the mortgage information. I don't understand why he wouldn't have followed up, if he hadn't received the voicemail. We received our paperwork the Thursday before tax day. He filed an extention on our paperwork - like he assumed he wasn't going to finish everything in a timely manner. On top of all of this, when we took the envelopes to be mailed, two out of the three mailing addresses were incorrect. I found this all to be extremely unacceptable and not even valued at $200. When I called to discuss the $300 bill he was extremely rude, argued with me about what I was saying, told me to send a $200 check and never come back for his services and hung up on me. Stephen Barasch is extremely unprofessional and I do not recommend him."
