"BLUF-Horizon Pools did an outstanding job building our pool in Frisco, TX. They were on schedule and budget. Trades showed up on time and performed as expected. Project would have been completed a full month ahead of schedule if not for weather delays. The few mistakes that were made during the project were immediately reported, and then promptly and completely resolved. Daniel and his team are best in class. Great work! Initial contact and sales process We met with Daniel initially to discuss the build out of our self-designed, in-ground pool. He was professional, knowledgable, and easy to talk to. There was no high-pressure sales talk or other tactics to upsell. We walked the site, discussed the plan and budget, and Daniel offered a couple of engineering suggestions that we had not considered in our original plan. Point to note; Horizon Pools was not the least expensive bidder. However, the initial rough estimate was resonable. A few days later, Daniel provided a formal quote with computer generated images of the expected outcome. We compared all bidders and ultimately decided to go with Horizon because of cost:value ratio, comfort level with Daniel, and reference work. Excavation For those who have not seen pool excavation; see the images with this post. The process was exactly as expected; a total mess! This is the part where you begin to ask yourself, "what did I get myself into?" From the time the first shovel hit the ground to gunite completion was just over a week. This stage would have happened faster but was delayed a bit due to rain. The Horizon team did a great job managing the mess as best you can in North Texas clay. Plumbing, tile, coping, plaster The plumbing team was outstanding. Their work is top notch. All of the long plumbing work was quickly completed and the team minimized the damage to the yard. Broken pipes were promptly repaired and reconnected. Plumbers went above and beyond to accommodate special requests to manage water shed and drainage. Masonary work on tile, coping and plaster was nothing less than artistry. The tile and coping are beautifully installed. Watching the application of plaster and pebble finish was amazing. The team responsible for this work was above exceptional. Their ability to perfectly shoot and float the smooth plaster surface was unbelievably precise. The application and finish of the pebble surface was pure artistry. GREAT WORK! Decking We decided to add a significant amount of non-continuous stamped concrete decking surrounding 270º of the pool. This design required great attention to detail in order to achieve the linear symmetry we desired. The concrete team did an outstanding job measuring and framing to ensure success. It is difficult to appreciate fully the work from the images attached; it looks GREAT in-person. Again, GREAT JOB! Mistakes Decking sinking - due to a rain-caused cave-in which occurred during excavation there was a need to backfill a significant amount of area under two slabs of deck. The area was not sufficiently compacted prior to deck installation which resulted in a sinking/shifting of these two slabs. Upon realization of this issue, the Horizon team immediately took action to correct the issue. The result was perfectly stable slabs in the correct position. Great recovery! Plumbing error - there was a drain line which was not properly capped during a refactoring of plumbing that was errouneously installed slightly above the turf grade. This caused a sinking effect in that area of the turf due to water overflowing under the turf area. Again, the Horizon team quickly acted to pull the turf back, repair and cap the plumbing line, re-level the area, and reinstall the turf. "To err is human, to forgive is devine" -Pope Daniel and his team are humble professionals. I highly recommend them for any pool needs. Thank you for the beautiful space. "Horizon pools is a great company! We signed a contract and paid another pool company to resurface our pool with plain white plaster. Within days we knew we had an issue. The schedule kept changing, he drained our pool without removing the plug, his crew didn't show up when they were scheduled, and I don't think he ever had us scheduled for plaster. It was such a nightmare. I called Horizon Pools and spoke with Daniel. He gave sound advice, asked for pictures, was incredibly helpful and he wasn't even working on our pool. A true testament to his character. After days of this other crew not showing up, we asked if Daniel could come take a look. He came out at 7 pm to meet with us. He educated us on the various surfaces and sent us a proposal to look at while he was checking the schedule for any possible openings. We selected the WetEdge Pebble and he was able to work us in the schedule. His crew showed up at 6:30 am and worked until they were done with their portion. Because it was a Saturday-Sunday-Monday, we were able to watch part of the process and it was amazing to see them blow the plaster in the pool. It's so elaborate how they suspend the hoses and spread it. I highly suggest watching day the resurfacing day two! It was a three day process-Plaster Prep, Plaster, and Acid Wash. We were amazed and how efficient and prompt they were. Because of the great experience, we decided to have them clean and service our pool once a week. Sandra is lovely and does a great job. They are just great people! If you are looking for an experienced, honest, fair pool company-CALL HORIZON. They do what they say they will do and provide exceptional service!"
