"This is my second time renting Call of the Sea, and it definitely won’t be the last! The home is beautiful, furnished for both style and comfort, and stocked full of items to help make your stay easy and fun. There is a beautiful view from every window, a cozy king bed in each room, and spacious walk-in showers in each bathroom. We fit 11 guests with ease and never felt crowded. Our happy place was the top deck, where we spent hours visiting, reading, playing games, or just watching the waves. Mai is a lovely landlady… very attentive, friendly, and concerned for our enjoyment. Thank you, Mai, for letting us into your beautiful home! We will be back!"
"I rented Call of the Sea for a weekend getaway with a group of friends. I can’t recommend it enough! What a gorgeous home. Steps from the beach, with patio seating on each floor so you can enjoy the view from anywhere in the house. The house was spotless, and the beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever had at a rental! I’ve also never been in a better stocked kitchen… every cooking gadget and appliance you could ask for. And the cherry on top is the hot tub! I loved the house so much, I’ve already booked a return stay for this summer for our annual family vacation. Book NOW… the only downside is that any other place you rent in the future will pale in comparison. The owner is a dream to work with and is so sweet and helpful. Thanks Mai for being a wonderful hostess!"
"My family stayed at Call of the Sea Sept 29th - Oct 3rd for my mothers birthday. Let me start by saying the beachfront view for this property is exceptional! All rooms with the exception of one has water views. The house is very spacious and decorated nicely. I give it 3 stars because we ran into a a couple issues during our stay. 1) One of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor (has built in kitchenette) had a ant problem. Ants were on the doors, walls and bathroom sink. These were sugar ants - which could have been there due to the room having a kitchen and guests leaving behind food. I had to call Mai so she could have her husband Tom stop by the put down bait. Considering I had a guest who would be sleeping in that room I didn't have time for the "ants to take the bait back to the queen" per Tom so I went and got bug spray after he left so my guests could feel at ease and not have to worry about getting bit or ants getting in their luggage. 2) The 3rd floor bathroom toilet had no pressure for 2 days. My parents had to keep putting water inside just to get it to flush (huge inconvenience!) We let Tom know the 1st day when he was there for the ant issue and he looked at it and did a "quick repair" which didn't hold b/c the pressure stopped again! So I had to call Mai again, next day time Tom showed up with repairmen which fixed the issue. I have to say Mai & Tom are super nice and responsive but for the staggering price I paid to rent out the property and wanting it to be special for my mother's bday the amenities need to be checked and repaired before guests arrive to ensure everything is in working order. Last thing I will add is the home needs touch up and a few repairs. I noticed chipped paint on window seals and the bathrooms are could use some updating. Overall the house is in a wonderful quiet part of Galveston and they provide numerous beach toys for entertainment, cooking utensils and comfortable beds."
"We LOVED our week at this beautiful home. The house had everything we needed to make great family memories with our children & grandchildren. It is well appointed, beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and decorated. The ground level was great for grilling, we built a fire in the fire pit to make s’mores. They have lots of beach toys, an umbrella, chairs etc for the beach. Our grandchildren loved the bunk room. Our daughter really enjoyed the “nursing room”with a mini fridge to store bottles overnight. It was perfect for a new baby. The views are fantastic. Lots of windows. Great balconies. And Mai is terrific! They brought us propane to grill snd a shovel to help make sandcastles when they heard our grandson wanted to build castles. Great stay. Thanks for sharing your lovely home!"
"The house itself is excellent. Clean, large, open. Right on the beach with a hot tub. Bathrooms were a little small and all the balcony furniture with cushions never dry- it looks dry so you sit down then the water absorbs into your clothes and all wet! But we were mostly on the downstairs patio so no biggie. While the house is superb, I wasn't impressed with the Galveston/G-island beaches. They don't clean them and people drive right on them. Also have to be careful when swimming of fisher people and the crabs!"
