"Both of my parents were taking their PC's here and using them for advice. 2 years ago, one parent was talked into a custom built PC with Windows 7 over a big box store's PC with Windows 10. Unfortunately, it's too late for the free upgrade to 10, so she'll likely have to pay for the update now that Windows 7 is going out of support this month. Sandboxie and a lot of the "protective" software they install slow things down, not to mention that most modern browsers protect you from the same things it does. Most PC's don't need so much maintenance as long as you let the automatic updates do their thing, but these folks would have my parents think that the internet is out to get them and unless they run 5 different scans using software J&R PC installed for them each day, their computers will be compromised. One parent has specific notes of what scans to run and when to run it. That's great - thanks for the detailed instructions - but please stop making people feel paranoid. I feel like I've had to do so much re-education with my parents..."

They have also upgraded PC's for me rather than suggesting I purchase additional units. We have also gone to their tips area on their website for suggestions for both friends and business associates. "I brought in my PC when I was 16, knowing the problem was a dead hard drive, but not knowing how to fix it, I told them I wanted it replace and nothing was on the drive that I needed. When I picked it up, they didn’t replace the hard drive, they said they had repaired it and charged me $180.00 and a week later it broke again. So I brought it back and asked them to fix the issue, and they said they would charge me again, after charging me $180 to use my pc for a week??? Now, I’m 17 and know how to fix the issue myself. It cost me $50 for a hard drive and the fix take 5 minutes. Bottom line is they say a young teen and completely took advantage of my young age. Never come here as they will mostly likely rip anyone off thinking that no one knows about computers. Still mad as hell about the situation."
