Reviews of Southwick Veterinary Hospital
"Never going back. Called to make an appointment because my cat was sneezing, had allergy-like symptoms, vomiting, and was walking around like he was dizzy. We were starting to get worried. They were able to get us in the next day but after bringing him in and doing their checkup, they told us that he would need antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection and that he had arthritis, which would explain his wobble. They also tried to prescribe him anti-diarrhea medication after I had told them twice that he was not having any diarrhea. I really don't know where that came from. That night after bringing him home, we gave him his antibiotics and he seemed content. At 4 am I was awoken to him meowing in pain and his wobble had gotten significantly worse, to the point where he could not walk. He was obviously frightened by his condition and had begun to vomit and urinate. When i looked into his eyes, they were shooting from left to right rapidly, as if he was dizzy, and his head was swaying in a circular motion. I stayed up with him all night to make sure that he wouldn’t hurt himself and to make sure that he was still in a stable condition until I could call the vets office at 9am, when they opened. After calling and describing his symptoms, the lady had told me he had vestibular disease due to an ear infection, which I had already known, because it took me 5 minutes to diagnose him with a simple google search, “dizzy cat”. My concern was why they didn’t tell us he had an ear infection at his check-up, and they blamed the way he was walking on arthritis without any testing being done to determine that. This leads me to believe they just heard the symptoms we listed and classified it as an upper respiratory infection and didn’t even give him a full checkup and look into his ears. Not to mention, the lady over the phone was not listening to anything I was saying and talking over me the whole time. She suggested a subdermal medication that would help his nausea and after I asked the average cost, she said “i don’t know, im not the pharmacy”, instead of maybe trying to help us figure out that information. I ended the call and decided it was best that we try a new vets office. My entire experience with this lady seemed as if she thought we were stupid. After 3 days since this occurred, he has slowly been regaining his balance and going back to normal and we have set a new appointment with a new vet. Update: After the appointment with the new vet he was found to have cancer, lymphoma specifically, which was causing his respiratory issues and problems with walking. Had Southwick actually taken the time to figure out what was wrong with him, we could have caught it much sooner. Thankfully the new vet (Binder Animal Hospital) actually took the time to care for him and helped us through what time he had left. He passed peacefully and painlessly 3 weeks later."
"Super nice people! They treated my Zazu(kitten) so well! A bit pricey but if you live in the Butler Hill area it’s very convenient."
"Our beloved Frenchton, Lord Stanley, injured his back. We were referred to Southwick Veterinary by our neighbors and we are so happy with the outcome. Lord Stanley has been receiving cold laser therapy along with some other medication and he is starting to use his rear legs again. We still have work to do but he is definitely on the mend."
"Brought my cat here thinking that paying premium prices would provide premium care. That is not the case at Southwick. I did pay premium prices but services are very poor. Update: sent you a copy of my receipt and a email describing my experience and received no response from you. Nice try on attempting to gaslight people into making it look like I wasn't a customer"
"If I could give negative stars I would. My two elder dogs have been going to this vet since we got them and since covid this vet has lost all quality of care. I can not believe that they still will not let you go in with your animals. I recently found out that they were not actually cutting my dogs nails even though that is what I paid them to do. Then when my dogs long nails were too tough for them they kept lying to me about being able to remove it and told me to take him to a horse vet, A HORSE VET! I took him over to Arnold Animal Hospital and they got his nails cut in ten minutes and then lectured me on how bad his nails were. I can not believe how terrible Southwick vet has become and how much they neglect the animals they are paid to care for. Please for the love of god, NEVER take your pets here!!!!"
