Reviews of University of Houston-Campus Recreation & Wellness Center
"Not good anymore. Renovations DURING the school year has made this place awful. No room, no equipment, courts are always full, WAY too many people for the small amount of room they have. Don’t ever bother going anymore because nothing is available!"
"Visited for the Cougar Classic ballroom dance competition. It seemed like a good facility. Specifically, I liked the locker room and just the general layout of everything. It was fun having viewers from the gym. The only apparent downside is the noise from the other courts bled in pretty easily. Also the requirement of wearing wristbands all day but I'm sure that's just a requirement of the facility."
"So much monopoly among a group of player especially when it comes to equipment issue and court reservation. It has happened to me so many times that you go the equipment issue desk and they tell you they don't have any stock of new shuttles but then a specific group comes in with new shuttles in hand issued from there. For sure I am talking about people who bring their own, because I am also one of them"
"Easy access to I-45, well marked placards to find the parking garage. The parking garage has many E-Car charging stations, very eco friendly. Helpful people along the way, super friendly and knowledgeable. The conference rooms were clean and comfortable. Big green clean campus. The wait music was unpleasant for sensory sensitive neurodivergent people (was supposed to be uplifting). Recommend a low sensory orientation for neurodivergent people or suggest noise cancelling headphones). Information in transitions book could have included online platform, Blackboard/Moodle/D2L or what have you. Snacks in the swag bag would have been nice as 8 a.m. meeting is early."
"The rec center was great. Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant encounter with a man named William Cornelius. Keep in mind this is my first time visiting the center. I entered a door that had a sign saying “entrance” and the door was UNLOCKED. I walked in and was waiting for a few friends to show up. A few minutes after waiting I have someone with an attitude coming up to me asking “How did you get in here?” I was super confused as this is my first time visiting and I entered a door that was unlocked. I explain how I got in and he brought me to the front. I truly believe his attitude towards the situation could’ve been better as I was at no fault. Anyways, the other workers were nice and when I asked if he was mad about something one of the employees explained he’s always like this. I don’t understand why someone works somewhere if they’re unhappy. He definitely needs to lighten up and change his mood."
