"We have been using Pinch a Penny in NRH for over a year now and satisfied would be an understatement! We are so pleased with the store and the owner is genuinely incredible!! You can always tell when someone loves what they do and the passion Russell conveys for his business is bar none!! We spent years trying different companies. Russell actually sets you up with the tools and knowledge to keep a pool sparkling!!✨ we are forever grateful and are now lifetime customers!!"
"Really good pool store. The best liquid chlorine. Also I did not know he did repairs until recently. He was out to my home very quicky to replace a multiport valve. Work looks great and he found some glass that blew into my pool and called to let me know so we would not get hurt. He cares about his customers."
"First of all, I do not waste time with reviews...BUT I had to BUYER BEWARE!! Recently, Aug 24, 2023, I went into the store while my daughter took her dog to the vet. I asked if they could do a pool drain. The owner explain they could do the service; I was asked to leave a card on file for the technician to come out. I thought no worries, this is a store front, I have better chances here than with some random contractor. I WAS WRONG! Yes, there were stains in the pool which is why I asked for the service. The technician came to do the service, Aug 26, 2023. The technician poured acid wash on the sides on the pool but did not do a rinse. I asked should not there be more done, like spray it down with the hose, I was told no. The tech stated once the pool is full to call the shop to complete the job, to start up. Once the pool was full, I called as instructed. Aug 28, 2023, I called and was told by a lady who answered the phone, she saw us on the schedule for the next day which was a no showed. Meanwhile, I noticed my credit card had been charged, $1081. Aug 31, 2023, I called again, and I was told again by the lady I was on the schedule and would get back to me. BTW while this is going on, I now have free standing water in the pool. Later that afternoon, my husband called and spoke to owner asking about soot substance at the bottom of the pool; the owner told us we needed to run the equipment to flush it, how were we supposed to know what to do...that's part of the service right??? Due to the frustration, I called my bank to dispute the charge. I figured he would definitely call. And I was right, yesterday, Sept 6, 2023, we received a call. I thought it was odd as to why 2 weeks later the owner is calling.... something HAD to prompt the call. Boy was I right, my bank called the merchant THIS IS WHY HE'S CALLING. Per the call, the owner proceeded to tell me he was just following up.... WHAT WEEKS LATER??? When asked why the tech did not show up after 2 calls were made, after we were told our pool was on the schedule. The owner explained he set us up for a "follow-up"...OK...when was that supposed to happen??? After my bank calls, 2 weeks later. RUN...Yelp reviews 2.7...wish I had seen those then. Only saw Google reviews...You can pay for those by the way! In dispute, no resolution yet! RUN!!!! Not sure why my yelp is showing me in San Francisco .... I am in Colleyville talking about the location in North Richland Hills"
"I just bought a home a few months ago, (first time owning with a pool). After trying to figure out on my own what to do to keep up with my pool I came across a few stores. Leslie’s of course and pinch a penny. When I went to Leslie’s they tried selling me on a bunch of products and also when reading my water levels they said I would have to drain my pool for calcium levels being high at 400-450, I took in my water samples again and another guy said those levels are not bad so I quickly lost credibility on them. Along came Russell in pinch a penny. We called and he said he can stop by to take a look at our pool. I noticed the store was about to close which meant he came after closing hours which stood out as amazing already. Within 15-20 min that he was there he helped me not worry about draining my pool and he showed me how to open up my filter canister and clean out my filter cartridge’s. I’m sure this would of been a fee with anyone else. He imminently gained my trust and so I visited this store. Since then he has guided me on all my questions and even helped me turn my pool from grass green to sky blue in one occasion. It can not be easy to go out of your way like this all the time especially as the owner, but it is admirable to see Russell go above and beyond."
"Russell at Pinch A Penny, has definitely gained customers with us. We had been using anither local pool company for weekly cleankng etc., but were not very happy with their service for the amount we were being charged. We wanted to begin taking care of our pool ourselves. Having no clue what we needed, we walked in and had a conversation with Russell. He was extremely helpful and took the time to really educate us without trying to sell a product. If you're looking for equipment, chemicals, testing kits, heaters, filters, Pinch A Penny has them, and a lot more! They also have a service that will clean your pool for you. I highly recommend giving them a try for your pool needs!"
