"My son has been training with this club through Glenview Park District for 1.5 years. I've seen so much personal growth thanks to his participation, especially with his focus, ability to handle pressure, goal-setting, and overall conditioning. To start, this is a legitimate club founded by a USA national coach, affiliated with USA Karate, and teaching Shotokan, the main style of Karate, which means they have true standards. Second, classes are offered through many area park districts and are affordable. They do not require you to commit to a long-term expensive contract like the non-legit "McDojos" that abound with questionable standards. And the instructors have been superb and inspiring, finding the delicate balance between fun and rigor. He even had an instructor on the US National Team! My son has participated in two tournaments hosted by this organization, with other Shotokan Karate clubs also participating. This is the real deal folks - check it out! I hope he will train with this club for many years."
"I have been apart of ISKC for over 16 years. Both my parents have been active volunteers and both of my siblings train as well. It is an amazing atmosphere full of great Sensei’s and students who all enjoy what they do. They want to see you succeed and grow throughout your karate journey and will do everything they can to support you. It is like being apart of a second family."
"My family and I have been a part of this club for over 20 years. Joining ISKC was the best thing I ever did for multiple reasons. The classes are taught by the most qualified and successful Sensei's in the nation. Each class instills confidence, discipline, and perseverance. The tournaments further these traits as well as allow time for feedback from world class referees and athletes. Training as a child through the program, things like public speaking and demonstrating in front of groups were no problems as I got older; tasks that prove difficult and anxiety-ridden for many of my peers. Once in college, ISKC funded a lot of my schooling through the graduate level. This club not only raises the most accomplished athletes through its training programs but teaches life long skills that transcend the dojo! ISKC is not just a karate club it is a family. Don't look anywhere else for a better karate program, let alone a sports program, that will make you into the best athlete and best individual."
"I have been a part of this club for over 20 years and it is hands down the best thing that has ever happened to me. The quality of the club is second to none. The instructors are fantastic and I am a better person for being a member of ISKC. I've met all of my best friends through this club and consider the club like a big extended family. This is a great place for all ages and levels of experience."
"My experience with ISKC has been fantastic. I actually trained for a year and half with ISKC in the 1980’s while at Harper Jr College. Fast forward to me being married and having two girls. When they were 5 and 6, I was teaching them to wrestle. I wrestled in high school. They liked it and I asked them if they wanted to do karate. Both yelled yes. So I looked up karate and amazingly ISKC was still around after almost 30 years. So I signed them up. 13 more years later both my daughters are on the US Karate Team and are ranked in the world. Both are World Champions for Shotokan Karate and have numerous other international medals for WKF which combines all styles. Sensei’s are great, friendly and good with kids or adults. They give students plenty of feedback on what to work on at all belt ranks and skill levels. ISKC hosts 4 major karate tournaments annually for plenty of tournament experience at a high level. ISKC is the largest privately owned dojo in the country. I definitely recommend them to anyone interested in martial arts."
