"My 4 year old son has been attending Chang Lee's for almost a year now and my 3 year old daughter just started. They both absolutely love going to Taekwondo and ask me everyday if its "Taekwondo day". Master Ben is amazing and so patient with my little ones and Grand Master Lee is very experienced and welcoming! It's always a joy watching my kiddos attend the classes and they've learned so much and it's been a huge confidence builder for them. We look forward to continuing with the club as my little one grow!"
"There are thousands of dojangs… but Chang Lee’s Taekwondo Club in Batavia is truly special. This is not a job for them; it’s a way of life. My son has been attending for a year and a half, and my daughter and I have signed up, as well. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my family and myself. Grandmaster and Master Ben have an extremely vast amount of knowledge. I will ask the most nuanced question and they can answer on the spot correctly, adding details and inspiring me to keep wanting to learn more. They know the technical and mechanical sides of taekwondo, the philosophies behind it, the real world applications, and the sport side, as well. They understand the physiology (how the body works, how to heal from an injury, how to prevent an injury etc.) and the mental health side of things. More importantly, they make it fun, interesting, welcoming, and safe for all ages across the lifespan. If you are neurodivergent (eg ADHD, autism, sensory differences, OCD) or are physically diverse, you will find support here. I’ve met so many great families here, every single one with their personal story of how CLTC helped them overcome a struggle, inspired them to set new goals not just in the dojang but in their real lives, and how they’ve found a sense of community and warmth here. The environment is clean, safe, and has natural light. The culture is both traditional and modern, Western and Eastern, keeping what works and releasing what doesn’t. At times they teach discipline, respect, and structure. At other times, they teach individually, expression and artfulness, allowing one to build on their personal strengths and hone in on their weaknesses. I have never been more aware of my weaknesses (haha), but now I know where I need to improve. And I am stronger than I’ve ever been. Don’t wait until you feel “ready” to sign up. Wherever you are at in fitness level, whatever phase of life you’re in, if you are a mom with one ab instead of six… even if you feel you know nothing about martial arts except for watching Jackie Chan or The Matrix… you can’t thrive until you come in, in person, and try. My son says he likes being there because the kids cheer for each other. My daughter says she likes kicking lol. Anyways. Just sign up. Grandmaster and Master Ben aren’t perfect. They’re human. It’s not a cult. I get annoyed at them sometimes. Once in a rare while, they are wrong. But when I bow, I mean it. They have earned my respect over and over again. It truly feels like home when I walk in the door. It’s an honor to train with them and with the other amazing Instructors, as well. (Instructor Reagan stays after class problem solving how to individualize lesson plans for specific children to help them thrive. Instructor Daphne pushes students to go harder, stronger, faster and lights up the room when she sees someone succeed. Instructor Teresa is so warm and sweet and great at teaching forms). Just sign up."
"We can’t say enough about Lee’s Taekwondo! Our son looks forward to class each day and it’s given him so much confidence. We catch him teaching his friends moves/technique and his little sister how to kick the right way. His dream is to become an 8th degree black belt like Grand Master Lee, he really looks up to him. Instructor Ben is so great with kids. He has so much patience and always knows how to make them laugh. They are the best!"
"This is a great family-oriented facility. Grandmaster Chang Lee and the instructors take their time to teach the children and adults to push them to reach their potential. Our children love going to class, and there are many class time options for busy families. I would recommend to everyone, including families with children who have special needs."
"My son really loves going to Taekwondo and Master Lee makes it the perfect balance of being strict but fun with the kids. Ben and Regan even out the class to make sure the kids are learning but also having a great time. I highly recommended this studio if your thinking of signing up your child. We have had nothing but a great experience and look forward to my son growing and learning this discipline."
