"My 3 year old girl loves coming here. Ms Kent is a gifted teacher with both a fun and scientific approach to training a child's mind, body, and spirit. I give her so much applause for her ability to connect with toddlers who as we all know are notorious for not listening. Highly recommend for all children of any age. There is a nice community here too of kind and understanding parents who are all going through the same struggles. The gym is nice and cozy. My daughter has improved much since starting and it is a priority now for us to continue this fun and helpful journey together."
"We've only been attending for a couple months but my 6 year oldest confidence has blossomed! She loves going to class and bringing what she learned home. Miss Kent is so patient with all the kids and makes sure to recognize each one of them. It's been worth every penny."
"My son started with AKF of Delavan when he turned 7, he is now 11 and promoting to Black Belt in November. We have been so pleased with Ms. Kent and the rest of the staff. I have seen so much improvement in my son's confidence and we continue to work with him daily. The students and families are so friendly and encouraging. This has been one of the best decisions we made for our family. 4 years and still going strong!"
"We absolutely LOVE AKF and the staff. My son started there non verbal and didn’t participate. Fast forward to today and he’s a willing participant, vocal and wanting to help do demonstrations. We have never had a problem and if there ever is Ms.Kent is super easy to talk to before and after class and if she’s busy you can always call/email/message her and she responds right away! I tell people all the time how great the school is and we see wonderful things out of not only are son but others in class. I read the review with one star and I totally respect people opinions and think all reviews are important but I will comment on a couple things. Classes are expensive totally agree but most sports are and the extras are just that extras it’s a business and if they want to grow and have certain things you have those extras people can purchase if they want but it’s not required, your told before you sign up on costs on everything you do need, when classes are canceled due to weather or instructors are gone for tournament they do 90% of the time schedule make up times and post them on the website and fliers in the building. As far as kid’s behaviors it’s actually one of my favorite things about the school they take EVERY range of child/kid, in my sons 4 year old class you have kids all over the board mixed in. I think Kent does an amazing job of being comforting but firm at the same time with the kids, she doesn’t let them get away with things but gives them choices on how they can fix it and if they don’t fix it it’s no sticker (for not listening) and/or no stripe (for not participating) I love watching how she interacts with the children who are having a hard time because she’s really good at it like really good, she never holds it against them and if they start off rough and get better she easily changes course and flows them into whatever there working on and does allow them to demonstrate because they obviously realize what they were doing wasn’t ok and are now ready to go. Does this interrupt class sure for a second but never to the point when it’s an issue. She keeps the class moving and going forward I’ve never seen her completely stop a class for over 2 minutes. Most family’s there who’s kids do have difficulties are there for that reason and the staff knows about and I’ve seen them talk with the family as a whole on how things are going at home/school. Classes with 3/4 year olds and the 5/6 year olds are not supposed to go perfect it’s building skills that their learning not only for the child but for the parent/family as well. Martial Arts isn’t just about becoming the next Karate Kid it’s about learning, discipline, respect of yourself and other. I think there doing a fantastic job and can not wait to see what the future of the school holds."
"We went for a few months. We ended up moving a good distance but still tried to , wanted to stay. But my daughter who never really acted out, has now started to misbehave. She sees kids being chased and giggling for misbehaving and not listening. Saw them being called up to showcase exercises and being silly and she wasn’t so she thought she was ignored and needed to act out. In my opinion and from what I saw, The kids who don’t listen and bully, got praise and extra stripes and called up to do examples. Not to mention, these kids are bouncing around and the AC isn’t even on for them. My son was soooo agitated because he was so hot today. And, Always some type of sale going on… buy this paddle (which should have been in our sign up bag), buy this shirt (which we waited over an month for an now don’t even need), now school backpacks. Even the ‘appreciation’ BBQ, was a fee. I’d think for 100 a month, something would be included. Didn’t get to make up classes for the ones we had to miss or were canceled. And we’re a few classes from our expiration because you pay for last month, and won’t be coming back. My daughter was so upset today. She dropped her sticker and another kid ran up, stomped on it and ran away. She told me which kiddo and it said he found it and my daughter was made to look like she lied about it. I hit my wits end, This wasn’t the class for us. This is my observations and my opinions on our experiences. I’m so disappointed. :("
