"Dr. Katula has been my Dr. for at least 10 years. He is always very caring, compassionate and thorough. He is a kind Doctor and I feel very safe in his care. I recommend Dr. Katula. He was also the Dr. of my children years ago. My kids always liked going to him."
"Dr. Katula is the most compassionate physician my family and I have ever been treated by. He takes the time to listen, without making you feel rushed. And, makes you feel truely heard. Going to the doctor can be a scary experience. But, Dr. Katula has a way of comforting you and making you feel safe. Thank you!"
"I have been going to Dr. Katula for 17 years. He is very caring and takes time to listen to you. As long as he is here, I will be too"
"I was seen Dr. Garrett Katula for weight gain concerns. At that time, I was extremely concerned, because I had been suffering for months with multiple medical issues and placed on multiple different medications. I was highly concerned that since my mother, my maternal grandmother, and multiple members in my mother’s family suffered from thyroid issues’ and some being even severe thyroid issues that I too could have a thyroid issue. Being that I have gained 45 pounds in the last year, and only being 120 pounds to start and never varying in my size before since I am a recovering anorexic, it seems as if this is very odd. Now , my visit didn’t go as I thought it would have ever gone. Being a woman, and even a recovering anorexic, I am extremely sensitive about the way I look, how much I weigh, what I eat, and how people judge me. It took a lot of courage actually for me to go in and even talk to my doctor about my weight issue. It is hard enough right now for me to even get up and put clothes on and go out in the public, let alone go and talk to a stranger about how much I weigh. I was in the exam room, talking to the nurse about my medications and why I was there for the appointment, when Dr. Katula actually came into the room and interrupted the nurses job and told her she could leave. This means he didn’t even have a chance to look over my chart and see why I was there, or what is really going on with me. He sat down in the chair in the corner and rudely said, “The only way people gain weight is that they intake too many calories and don’t burn enough off.” He didn’t even bother to ask me first why I was there. He didn’t even ask what is wrong. He asked no open ended question first. This is what we are all taught to do in the medical profession. But, that was not what he started with. Now as a recovering anorexic how am I supposed to leave that appointment feeling? And I have my two young daughters that see him as their primary care doctor. . Do you think I am going to let my daughters see Dr. Katula now? Lastly, I think he realized I upset or that I was at my breaking point when I started to cry. I was mostly crying because of him. I couldn’t believe how he was treating me. But, at that time he said he would run any test I wanted. He decided to run a thyroid panel, and said he would call me with the results “no matter what”. Well, days came and went and I never received a call or email from anyone. Now, I went all the way to Mayo Clinic where they see thousands of patients a day and they call, email, and even mail you results or conversations. How can my PCP not even call me with results? Good thing I can interpret my own blood work, I guess. I will not be seeing Dr. Katula any more as my Primary Care doctor, nor will my two daughters be seeing him. His bedside manner has never been great, but I will not feel like that 12 year old girl like I once was ever again. I hope he does not do that to any other individual, because that is absolutely awful. He came in and looked at a fat woman, and made a judgement right away. He doesn’t know that I literally count my calories on my phone everyday of my life, and their has been no change in my diet, but yet I gained 45 pounds. All he needed to do was ask questions first, and not judge. I am very much hoping to receive better treatment in the future, and I hope he does not do this to anyone else as well, because it is absolutely shameful."
"Dr. Katula has been our family Doctor for many years. His manorism and compassion toward his patients has made him a perfect choice for my three kids as well as myself. I would highly recommend him as a family Doctor to anyone in need of a good Doctor."
