NIU Campus Mail, located in DeKalb, Illinois, United States, is a part of the Northern Illinois University Facilities Management and Campus Services Division of Administration and Finance. Mail sent to the Dorland mail center should be sorted and banded into seven groups by the sending office. Inter-office mail and forwarded mail do not require a postage charge slip, but other categories should have one attached to each group. University route drivers and mail expediters pick up and deliver both US stamped mail and inter-office mail, following policies and procedures to best serve the university community. The institution does not offer UPS, FEDEX, or other commercial carrier services. Due to the increase in electronic mail and staffing issues, the Materials Management team has implemented a reduced mail delivery system for departments on campus. Some departments will receive mail on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule, unless other arrangements have been made. Certain departments will continue to receive mail five days a week without any changes. Express Mail and Certified Mail will still be delivered daily to all departments. Departments affected by the reduced delivery schedule can still pick up incoming mail and drop off outgoing mail at the Dorland Building Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information, please contact the office at 815-753-1183/815-753-6286 or refer to the frequently asked questions.
