"I would not recommend using this bank for anything. I financed a car through the Edwardsville Illinois branch at the end of June. This includes title and plates transferred from my old car to my new one. I go to the DMV 2 months later to purchase plates for my old car, to find that CEFCU never transferred my plates at all. They never contacted me for 2 months to inform me that they needed more documents from the seller. I was not informed about this initially. The seller and I were both actually told that CEFCU had all they needed from us and it was a done deal. Had I not went to the DMV to try to get plates for my old car, I never would’ve known that I was driving around for 2 months with plates that were still registered to my old car. Now the seller has to obtain a estate lawyer in order for me to get license plates for the new car. I feel like this falls on the bank for not mentioning this from the start. The seller now has their money from me, so they’re not concerned about my issue. In the seller’s eyes I just picked the wrong bank and I think she’s correct, and done with the whole deal. I went in yesterday and was told the problem was fixed. I was told that we could get around not having to wait however long for the seller which could be never. Problem solved right? WRONG! I get to the DMV today to find that the plates still haven’t been transferred as I was told when I left yesterday. I signed, and left with forms that showed “proof of transfer.” I call after being embarrassed at the DMV for the second time, and they tell me once again that I have to wait on the seller to get documents from their lawyer. This is after being told when I left yesterday that the issue was resolved. I wouldn’t ever consider opening a bank account here, because this place is as unorganized as I’ve ever seen. I’m stuck with a car that I can’t even drive. They have no intentions on making this right either. I thought the customer was always right, but I was WRONG for ever taking my business to this place. It’s just a simple oops to them. They’re making me pay for a mistake that they made which is truly unfair. I have no clue when I’ll be able to enjoy my car that I bought if ever. The seller find out 2 months later that THEY need an attorney in order for me to get plates for MY car?? I’m at the seller’s mercy and I doubt they’ll go through all of that for me. I can’t blame the seller for the lack of information from the very beginning. I’ve never felt so mistreated by any company In my entire 45 yrs. Horrible service and I would highly recommend going elsewhere!"
"I financed my vehicle through CEFCU out of Alton, IL since it had the best interest rate available. At this point, I feel it might’ve been worth it to have gone with a higher rate at a better quality banking institution. After making my first car payment, I attempted to setup auto pay which most banks make pretty straightforward. However, at CEFCU, I was told I’d have to come in or mail them a form to establish autopay. A few days later, I called to make an appointment to do this but was then told, I COULD do this online. The rep on the phone walked me through establishing this on the app. I set auto pay up - or so I thought. Come my due date, the payment never gets taken out. The following day I make a payment on my own, so that I’m not late on the auto loan payment. A few days later, the payment is taken out twice. I call to let them know of the inconvenience. They tell me they won’t be able to refund me for a few days. They help me set up auto pay online. Again, the issue happens. The following month except this time, I go negative in my external account. Each person I spoke to over the phone had to call me back because they didn’t know the answer to my issue and/or they gave me different information. Not only have I suffered financially by banking with CEFCU, but I’ve been rejected when asked if they’d simply acknowledge or attempt to make up for something THEIR bank did wrong. They actively have made themselves unavailable and inaccessible during emergent issues like their customers going negative due to a mistake on their end. I would advise anyone to avoid this bank at all costs."
"Very nice staff"
