"I am at a loss for words the humiliating, degrading, unprofessional, and cruel words that came out of Dr Patel’s mouth while I was meeting with him. He is borderline abusive. During the time I met with him he directly insulted me frequently using words like ‘crazy’ to describe me. When I asked him to write me a simple letter excusal letter he wrote medical misinformation portraying me like someone that should be in prison when that is not true at all. He’s quick to prescribe meds for any issue under the sun without discussing medical causes of symptoms or anything else. He put me on a medication that was counter indicative to my condition. Since leaving I met with another psychiatrist who was able to tell me why the med dr patel put me on caused severe side effects, as it is not meant for people with.my.condition.. He is unwilling to work with other providers, and when he manages to try, he is rude and dismissive to them (per my provider). He is inexperienced, and frequently lets his personal issues get in the way of meeting with patients. Trust me, I know all about them. It is wild to me that I did not have a drastic medical emergency with the crazy meds he put me on, he’s lucky. If you want careless, selfish, and pill pushing psychiatry then this is the practice for you. Stay away from dr patel though."

"As far as I can tell this organization simply cares that you can pay your bill and doesn't really care about your child. I had issues with insurance and a rough patch and I eventually paid the bill and they told me that I was out of luck. Once you have been late in paying them, they won't see your child again. Every business is entitled to run their organization how they want. This was just a huge indicator on what they really care about. If AFG would like to comment and say otherwise, please do."

When faced with 12-14 months of waiting to get my daughter in for an evaluation anywhere in Illinois, we found AFG Guidance Center and traveled from Central Illinois to Chicago two months later for two days worth of appointments, and it was the best experience. "I called to inquire if this practice was accepting new patients. The receptionist was very unfriendly and unhelpful. She curtly said "nope" and when I asked her if she had other suggestions for a desperate family to turn to she shortly said, "don't know." Zero empathy, zero concern, zero regrets expressed for not being able to help. Very unprofessional and exacerbated my feelings of helplessness as a concerned parent who can't find medical professional to help."
