"I am working WIU, so I love the campus, especially it is located near Mississippi river bank, beautiful views."
"There is so much misinformation in the WIU-QC bio I don't know where to start. 1- (40 programs my a$$) I was forced to change my major away from Journalism because 99.8% of the Journalism curriculum was still in Macomb. 2- If there are 20 student groups at WIU-QC, none of them were for continuing adult education students 30 or older and the only other 30+ student I met in four years was chased off while crying because there was so little support available to him. 3- If there is a 12:1 instructor/student ratio, it was not there in 2014 when I graduated. The campus was so small and understaffed you had to almost threaten violence just to get access to a usable computer to work on campus. I gave up and bought a new laptop because it was nearly impossible to do work if you needed a computer on campus. The WIU "cost guarantee" is either a blatant lie or something that has been recently adopted. There was ZERO support when signing up for student loans when all my previous loans were grants so of course I ended up signing up for more than I needed. It was nearly impossible to meet with counselors, and there was ZERO support for older continuing education students. I could not have felt more unwelcome. I'm just glad I at least stuck it out and graduated because overall I didn't enjoy my experience at WIU-QC."
"The advisors and facility here know what they are talking about when it comes to signing up for needed coursework. I’ve never had an issue here. It makes it easier to sign up for classes when you know what you would like to major in. The Western Illinois University staff do an excellent job giving you the correct information and keeping you updated on campus information. I’ve only had one person in a student resource department switch positions with a new department contact through the pandemic. This staff member also made me aware of the contact transition at the beginning of the semester which as a student, I greatly appreciate. Communication to students about resources and campus information is great here. This University’s staff are very responsive to the pandemic and offers free COVID-19 testing for students. It’s a very affordable public four year University institution. A great choice for college students in the Quad Cities or elsewhere. Western Illinois University seems offers a diverse selection of programs and graduate programs to prepare you for your choice of major. Some of of which you can do completely online. Western Illinois University to attend with great leadership during a national pandemic."
"WIU charges you Tuition Distance and Outreach fee, which always adds an extra 1k to my tuition and then they add additional $300 for another set of distance fee. If you want your students to feel as if they’re a whole with the Macomb campus, then treat them as such.. The professors aren't paid much because and most do not care to teach. I did not feel the education was up to par."
"Finally the QC has a four year public university - and WIU is an incredible addition to QC and Moline. They offer a variety of classes and majors. Please check out this great option for your continuing education. Also a great place to hold meetings - you cannot beat the view of the Mississippi River."
