Reviews of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic School
"This school is terrible!! The math and science programs are very basic and don’t teach advanced math. My daughter that was in middle school took her high school math entrance exam and scored very low which very negatively effected her classes. This school hasn’t changed it’s math program in years.. I feel like the math they learn is outdated. Bullying is never addressed in the schools. My daughter was bullied non stop and they batted the eye the most they did was give the students a lunch detention and a slap on the wrist.. the school also has no budget at all they can’t afford any new equipment for the gym or playgrounds and the whole school seems to be very old and worn out."
"Its time to tally up the marks...WHY we LOVE our school so much. My daughter has expressed her desire to always chase HER BEST. The teachers and staff infuse these kids with the love of learning and the idea that they can reach sky high! My son (the youngest) had a rough transition leaving the nest, BUT felt at home after the first week. The support and nurturing "extended family" that we now have, worked to make it easier on both MOM and child to jump this hurdle. The academic achievements that I have seen so far are outstanding! My kindergartner is showing so much growth, and 2nd grader is impressing my daily. Our front office team, works together to keep us up-to-date on news around school and any developing issues/concerns. The ability to communicate is impressive, and I am confident and relieved to have my children in good, safe, capable hands while not at home. After school activities(...so many to chose from) feed their imagination and give my kids time to socialize in that same safe, adventurous place. Just stop by, they are ALWAYS willing to introduce you and you children to a new "Happy Place"."
"Caring and qualified faculty and staff who go the extra mile to respond to the needs of each child and connect with each student. Families are welcoming and highly involved. Parish and school operate as a team and with the community. Children are kind and respectful. High quality education proven by excellent test scores, beautiful campus and facilities, a variety of after school sports and clubs."
"The school has nice kids, some that are really spoiled because their parents work at the school or PSA so they get away with anything and get anything they want. The lead roles for the yearly musical will always be given to kids that have parents working or volunteering for the school (e.g., PSA board member), never based on talent no matter how well they audition. I just checked their site to see who made the lead role this year, and I was right. This year again the lead role given to the daughter of a PSA board member. Some teachers are good some are not. Math teachers in the past 2 years have been bad so your kid will be behind in math. Overall, this school is good because it's small and safe, but the education is not better than public school. I'd like to mention that if your kid gets bullied by a kid that has a mother who works at the school or is a PSA board member, the school will not do anything about it."
"Outstanding school. Warm, loving, energetic community of teachers, administrators, parents, and students. Full day 3K, 4K and kindergarten with on-site after school care for working families. Lovely, safe, well-maintained campus. Amazing, talented, big-hearted teachers that give lots of individual attention to each student. Spirited and engaging athletic program. Beautiful faith formation with real attention paid to ethics and good behavior for all students. Academically and developmentally, St. Al's gives kids a big head start on high school and beyond -- we see it year after year in the graduates. Our family has been here seven years now, and the community has been amazing for us. Just an excellent school that gives back everything you put into it and so much more."
