Reviews of Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery Corp
"This used to be a Great place to work. I enjoyed delivering for them until they hired their new manager who is as much racist as he is condescending. I made it a point to have my customers leave positive reviews on Google. Every time one of my customers left a positive review the owner would respond saying that they’ll show the teams appreciation… that never happened. In fact… management lacked appreciation also. I will be filling a complainant with the EEOC against metropolitan and their new manager Matt. Last March while on my way home from work at metropolitan I was in an auto accident that could’ve ended my life. I was out of work for 5 months and when I returned my doctors had me on restriction as to how much weight I can lift. On the day I was terminated I was sent to Wisconsin to run a route in the middle of a thunderstorm. 2 stops were not completed…. And I documented all the reasons why. One of the deliveries was for 2 electric adjustable sofas that weighed about 300lb. Now as per metropolitan any deliveries over 300lbs required the help of a 3rd man. When I called dispatch on that particular day I was informed that metropolitan had changed the requirements for deliveries requiring a 3rd man from 300lbs to 250lbs. I went ahead and had dispatch reschedule the stop for a day when the weather was more favorable and to make sure a 3rd man was sent. 2nd delivery that was rescheduled was also during the severe thunderstorm. We attempted to drive down the customers (long) driveway but we’re unable to due to 2 overhanging tree trunks that would have damaged the box on delivery truck. I called dispatch to inform them of the issue at hand and told them the customer was not answering the phone. I asked if the customer could meet us half way with their own vehicle so we could complete the delivery that way since the truck didn’t fit and we were told the customer was on the way. The normal wait time is 20 minutes per customer… I waited 35 since I knew the weather was bad. The customer never arrived and It was rescheduled by dispatch. I’m filing a complaint against the company and it’s manager Matt for 2 reasons. 1 his dislike for Hispanics and the language they speak while on the dock. He made comments about being illegal to everyone there including myself…. I was born in Illinois! The second reason is for wrongful termination when I followed all the rules put in place by metropolitan. I’m under restrictions from my doctors and since I didn’t carry 300lbs of leather and steel in the middle of a thunderstorm I was terminated.I would highly suggest the owner to contact me before I follow through with the complaint to see if we can come to some kind of agreement. My contractor was Franco so if you need my contact info get it from him. If I don’t hear anything within the next week I will proceed with my complaint. Thank you"
"I had an order coming from Houston to Chicago. First they told me they did not pick the order up from the supplier. When I furnished them with the signed BOL they finally admitted they had the packages. Then they did not ship the packages from Houston to Chicago when they said so they told me that my delivery date would not be met. They then told me my new delivery date would be Thursday that next week. On Thursday they said only 1 of my 2 packages arrived and they had "put in a note that only 1 package would ship". So I got a hold of the Houston warehouse manager who told me they shipped 2 pieces. Conveniently the Lockport, IL location is somehow closed at 11am on a Thursday. I have left messages with the manager of that facility. I even found the CEO's email just to let him know how utterly pathetic they are at shipping and warehousing. Which, unfortunately for the rest of the world, is their business model. At this point I almost just want my money back, I have been waiting 10 weeks for these items and I think maybe someone in Lockport just liked the look of the chair I ordered and now it's in their living room. I really don't have another explanation at this point in time. Anyways, if you have another option for any shippers I would say use them, even if it is some random guy on the street corner. They will have a better reputation than this pathetic company."
"They lied about their delivery window and then they lied about trying to deliver. I cancelled appointments to be available and no one showed up at the scheduled times. Shameful. Dishonest. The dispatcher lied about the truck coming in 5 minutes and no truck had arrived 60 minutes later. The customer service rep was unable to provide help because the office was closed (at 4 pm). I'm disgusted and angry with them. Their Customer Support has begun an investigation and promised a response by management. The delivery was rescheduled for tomorrow (2 days after the last failed delivery)."
"UPDATE: 02/20/2023 After a FOURTH scheduled delivery, I am beyond dissatisfied with this company. Today I was told that a piece of furniture could not make it up the stairs and it is currently sitting in my front room. I cannot afford to reschedule another delivery. Disappointing is the only word to describe this experience. White glove is not how I felt I was treated. If you can avoid using this company, I would. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are two ways that I am rating this company: Metropolitan-1 star Delivery-5 stars. The company is horrible to work with. My first scheduled delivery they did not communicate with me the a specific time frame and then left. I needed to reschedule a delivery and again they did a horrible job at setting that up. When my delivery arrived, the two gentlemen that were assembling and delivering my furniture were great. David and Alex were both quick and efficient. They took time to explain anything I asked and treated my home with respect. Both men were thorough and honest with all my furniture. After they inspected all the pieces they asked if i would like to look before they moved everything in. I appreciate that time and professionalism. They made a horrible experience better. I am now waiting for a third delivery as two pieces of my furniture came damaged and metropolitan, again, was not accommodating. I am hoping that I get the same delivery experience as the first one."
"Worst company ever. I can't believe that a reputable company like costco would work with them. I will never order furniture through costco again. The delivery drivers showed up a day early. (cuz they wanted to get all of their work done in one day so they could party the next day.) They lost 4 out of 8 chairs, and damaged the center leaf of the table as they delivered it. And the customer service on the phone has been AWFUL. Like, horrendously awful, I've never encountered such bad customer service ever. We spoke with a customer service supervisor named Joseph, who promised to call multiple times and didn't call. We've requested his supervisor call us - I'd be surprised if she did - because nobody returns calls here. We've had multiple different people promise to call and never have received a call. Joseph said that he called 3 times and it was "busy" - um, hello - it's a cell phone - you can leave a message if it isn't answered - but we got no calls. He also told us that he emailed us - and we asked him to forward that email to us - and what do you know - he couldn't find it in his sent folder. Immature, dirty business. I would never recommend using them ever. We paid $1900 for a nice kitchen table in MAY (one that said est. 1-2 week delivery). We've had to call 2x/week, put on hold, the whole thing to get ANY action on the delivery. Costco's system says "delivered without exception." I wish I could give zero stars or negative stars. Will be surprised exactly zero if they are out of business in the next 6 months. Oh, and we're still waiting on the 4 chairs and the replacement table leaf."
