Hickory Creek Middle School

"The academic program is pretty good and the teachers are usually understanding of most things. The one downside is the principal. He is totally goal driven and is pretty clearly trying to make the school the best in the state. He doesn't care a lot about the music program, for both the chorus and for the Spring musical. While him wanting to make the school #1 in the state might sound appealing, it really sucks for most students since we're constantly having all this pressure on our backs. The school building is well maintained, no health concerns. The nurses are nice, and you'll have no trouble with making sure your kid gets their medication at the proper time of the day. The students can often be entitled and feel as if they have to show off their wealth because Frankfort is a "rich" town (it really isn't.) There's a lot of social bs that goes on with families and children. Children who have parents that contribute a lot to the activities they're engaged in seem like they get preferential treatment, so if you're an ass-kisser this school might be perfect for you as a parent. However if you're a normal parent with a 9-5 job, you likely will have difficulty picking your kids up from extra-curricular activities and might have to resort to car pooling. If your child needs any special help for any reason then this school is pretty good for that. Disabled children are taken care of very well and children who may have behavorial issues are usually assigned a counselor to talk with regularly. As a student who has been in the fsd157c school district since kindergarten, I have grown up and matured in these schools. I've had mixed feelings about all the schools, but overall, they're alright. Although watch out for Chelsea, the vice-principal (I don't know if he still works there) seriously does not understand how to talk to children with behavorial issues or have bad tempers. I would know, that dude haunted me for years, I would do the most minor thing and get an in-school suspension. That's beside the point though. Hickory Creek Middle School is an overall fine school and your child will have many opportunities to receive help academically, medically, socially, and etc."

"As a member and past president of the education foundation 157C, I have had the opportunity to be involved at all schools. Most recently my son has come to attend Hickory Creek middle school. I could not be happier with the administration and with all of the teachers that provide such a great service to our students and go above and beyond each and every day. I love that our school still has music and art as well as physical education every day. There is a wide variety of Intermurals to participate in and the bands are top notch!"
