"So sad... Just after my father died, we went through the family treasures and each selected a few pieces that were special to us. I selected what remained of my grandmother's crystal glasses, an antique lamp for which my mother searched for just the right shade, a bust of Homer that has ruled the bookshelf for as long as I can remember, a reproduction of the first edition of Encyclopedia Britannica, a charcoal portrait of me done years ago, assorted family pictures in frames, and a cowboy had my father got on a trip to Arizona. We also had two of my father's paintings. When my husband went into this store, he was first told they didn't ship paintings, then they packed two boxes - one with the reproduction books, and another with the remaining items. The books arrived with the slip case completely falling apart. The second box was packed so poorly! the items were all floating around in a sea of packing peanuts and a few pieces of loose bubble wrap. The lamp shade was not wrapped separately, the lamp was bouncing around on its own, the plaster bust was at the bottom of the box. Needless to say, things did not arrive in good shape. The lampshade was broken in two; the lamp base is bent; the bust is missing a shoulder and has a chip in its base; one of my grandmother's glasses was shattered; the frame of the charcoal sketch is broken. All of this could have been prevented if a little care was taken. We took the two paintings to another UPS store. They carefully wrapped each painting in bubble wrap and put them into boxes designed for shipping artwork. They arrived in perfect condition. As it turns out, I am happy this store didn't ship them. Who knows how they would have arrived. I don't know who it was that packed these boxes, but they really need to learn to take care. You never know the importance of what is being shipped. These pieces may not have seemed like much to the person packing them. But, they are priceless to me. Suzann Look"
