"I arrived at SS in 1950, & graduated on to Oak Street JH in 1955 ... SSES is where I discovered what boys were and were not suppose to do with girls; where I learned you can trust some friends but not others, where I learned the difference between good teachers (I'm still in love with my Third Grade teacher?) and bad teachers ... it's also where I learned about the value of art (thx Miss Butz ??) and team sports (thx coach). It's where dozens of good grownups sheltered me from myself; and where I learned about humiliation. Hope you've replaced the pebbled playground by now."
