"Today I witnessed how an elderly sick cancer patient was treated with disrespect and humiliation by the front desk secretary named Valerie. It is a shame to see these kind of situations especially when people go to see the doctor out of need and not out of pleasure. Valerie refused to let the patient see Dr. Desai even if an appointment was made ahead of time and a request by the doctor was made for follow up. Her reason was that she is seeing thousands of people and it is not her responsibility to explain to a patient any instructions regarding insurance policy. The patient was willing to pay out of pocket and to have the bill sent to his home. Valerie refused to send a bill saying that it’s not the office policy , insisting the an upfront pay up to $400 is need it. The patient left without seeing the doctor. It is a shame that there is no compassion where it should be the most. Absolutely horrible customer service!"

"I was referred to Dr Desai by Dr Siegal in Lake Zurich. Dr Desai reviewed 3 CT scans of my lungs and he recommended a PET Scan at the Alexian Brothers Cancer Center to thoroughly investigate my lung nodules. He found the lung nodules to be no issue but he saw a lymph node, in his professional opinion, to be a concern for cancer. He requested I do a IBus Broncioscopy to biopsy the lymph node. Sounds reasonable YET it’s a surgical procedure where they have you completely under and asleep. In the opinion of two other Pulmonologist, they completely disagreed with Dr Desai. The other Pulmonologist said it not the standard to be followed and it’s unnecessary as your nodules are stable. In addition, I had my blood analyzed for tumor markers by the other Pulmonologist and they told me the tumor markers were completely normal indicating no cancer. Dr Desai never pulled my blood to check. I do believe, as I’ve got good insurance, he was going to unnecessarily have me do a biopsy though it’s not standard for any Pulmonologist to do so. This review is based on 2 other Pulmonologist reports to me. Get a second and third opinion before ANY surgical procedure"

"I am fortunate to have been connected by luck of a good referral from my primary care doctor. I have been with Dr. Desai for over 2.6 years. He's knowledgeable and often taken extra time to diagnose and treat me for COPD and Lung Cancer. In addition to my Lung Cancer being in remission my COPD is under control. His abilities, knowledge and personal care are priceless to me. He has made every effort to work with me mind and body to be better. Further, Dr Desai has also tirelessly collaborated with the Radiation Oncologist, Cardiologist and Infectious Disease doctors bringing me to the point of this writing.
