"This company is trying to charge me to amend my 2022 taxes. They failed to ask me to provide a 1098 because they assumed it would not make a difference based on 2021 Texas. Instead of asking for all relevant documents, as even turbo tax does, they are blaming me and want me to pay for the amendment We are human and all make mistakes. What differentiates people is how they chose yo correct their mistake. This one-star review is all because they are not willing to acknowledge and rectify their error. Shame on them!"
"They have done our taxes since we moved to Texas. They helped us work through a headache of a return when we first moved here since we had never dealt with capital gains tax before. We are very thankful for them. It doesn’t always work out to do your own taxes online. You may think you can do it yourself, but really you’re creating more of a costly headache for yourself later. We were so grateful they helped us work through everything 4+ years ago. They ended up saving us more money in the long run. Now, we always are owed a return! Seeing the amount of negative reviews here is shocking because we’ve never had a bad experience with them. We’ve been using their services for close to 5 years. They clearly state their fees, and I believe they’re fairly priced for the amount of hours they spend on people’s paperwork. I recommend their services to all my friends and will continue to use them. Be cautious of the negative reviews. Some people don’t like hearing the truth that they’ve made previous mistakes on their taxes or withholdings, or forgot to file a pertinent piece of paper and want to blame the messenger. This firm knows what they’re doing and we trust them with our taxes."
"These knuckleheads want a $200 shake down fee before they will tell you their outrages rates This is a super shady business practice and does not set a good precedence with a potential new client Call around before committing. Most other cpas either have their rates listed on their websites or they will offer a free 30 minute consultation"
"I emailed Mr. Ray for an appointment via his online tool and I received a call back that same day on a Saturday. I was unable to talk to him that day but did return his call and Mr. Ray was very helpful. Unfortunately he was not able to assist us with our case with the IRS but I'm glad he told me this before making me pay for an appointment. Based on our conversation you can tell this guy knows what he is talking about, very straight forward. Thank you Mr. Ray."
"This is a response to Rebecca's review: Rebecca, Thank you for your feedback, and I hope all is going well. Looking into our records, I see that you were provided with our standard hourly rates in advance. We prepared a cost estimate of $400 for the personal tax return, which was in line with our final invoice. In addition, we discovered that you were required to file a Texas Franchise Tax report for your small business, which increased the fee slightly. Your husband began to send us emails from “The Godfather Verdict”. He became abusive and rude to our staff over the phone. The invoice amount was reduced to $433, which is fair and reasonable in my humble opinion. He refused to pay the invoice upon filing of the tax returns and insisted that the invoice would be paid once he received the tax refund. The refund was sent by the IRS in a timely fashion, and the invoice for our fee was never paid. We sent kind reminders each month of the balance due and we were ignored each time. When we called your husband laughed and hung up the phone on us. We waited patiently four and a half months prior to sending the account through our collections process. It wasn't until after we sent your account through the collections process that this negative online review was posted, which is a common theme in our negative reviews. Thank you kindly, Josh Ray Ray CPA, PC"
