Theurer-Wrigley House 2466 North Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
About the Business
The Theurer-Wrigley House, also known as the Wrigley Mansion, is a historic Italian Renaissance-style mansion located in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1896 by architects Richard Schmidt and possibly Hugh M.G. Garden, this grand four-story home features 11 bedrooms, 6 baths, a conservatory, ballroom, and a three-story coach house with additional bedrooms. The house boasts stunning Baroque ornamentation, hardwood floors, stained glass windows by Louis Tiffany, and a driveway circling the main building. The exterior is adorned with ornate baroque terra cotta, possibly the early work of the Northwestern Terra Cotta Co. The house was purchased by the Wrigley family in 1911 and has a rich history, including being considered as the official residence for the mayor of Chicago in 1984. After sitting empty for several decades, the house was bought in the late 1980s and underwent renovation. It was sold in 2004 and again in 2018. The Theurer-Wrigley House is a truly magnificent and historic landmark in Chicago.

"There are still the beautiful old houses. Unfortunately, more and more are being torn down and high-rise buildings are being replaced. A pity."
"Beautiful house passed by it all the time when living in Lakeview"
