"Very interesting old law building here. Not much else lol it is very small and just that building to see not much else but it is very cool and interesting piece of history. It is right by the river and bike/walking trails very close. It could be a stop on a bike ride and I suggest taking the trails into geneva they have some other really old interesting buildings and alot more they also have a garden there. But this place is t much but for what it is I give it 5 stars very interesting indeed."
"Fun little historical spot, especially for fans of the Underground Railroad and the Civil War. St Charles has apparently had quite a bit of involvement with both! Little office/ former jail cell interesting to observe. The little path thru the woods behind the site is also very immersive and pleasant to walk on as well."
"Well maintained & updated building with pieces of local history. The Langum Park grounds, children recreation park, tennis courts, lighted ball diamond, even a outdoor ice hockey rink are kept Clean & nice to use also. Free parking with professional patroling security officers."
"Camp Kane is a historical park just South of the downtown area of St Charles. It is a large park and played an important role in the Civil War. It was a training camp and today the reenactment people were there on horses and were practicing. The Fox River Trail runs just West of this park."
"Site of camp where famed 8th Illinois Cavalry regiment of the Union Army trained. Soldiers were made up mostly of men from nearby towns in Kane County. There is a small museum (usually closed) with an excellent diorama of what the camp looked like in 1861 (you can peek in the window). Scenic location on the bottom slope of Langum Park Hill overlooking the Fox River. Absolutely worth a stop for any Civil War fan. 8th Illinois Cavalry's finest performances were in guarding Harrison's Landing during Union retreat after Seven Days, assisting in holding Union center at Antietam, and harassing Confederates at Williamsport during their retreat from Gettysburg."
