Reviews of Mind Over Matter Counseling Solutions
"I worked with Michelle for about 4 months last year until my insurance changed. I felt like she was great support when I needed some extra clarity. As a secular person myself, it can be hard to find a therapist in the bible belt with whom I feel I can establish a working rapport, and to build trust with someone while I do the work of healing. I always felt seen and respected, and never felt like religion was a component of my path forward. I deeply appreciated this, and feel confident I am in a healthier headspace now because of the work we did together."
"I simply couldn’t recommend Michelle more! This was my first time going to therapy. She created such a safe space for me to express my feelings. It was personal and genuine. All the staff was professional and sessions feel private. I’ve seen growth and progress to meeting my mental health goals. I enjoy my sessions and look forward to the next. To anyone considering, give them a try!"
"While this place may be good for adults (I don’t know because we didn’t use them for this), I would not recommend for a child. The first visit with Michelle, I went in with my 9-year-old son. The 2nd or 3rd visit, he was alone with her until about 3/4th way through, when she came out to get me and said he wanted me in there. Afterward, in the car, he broke down and said, “I just want someone to help me and talk to me. She didn’t talk to me, but was on her computer working while she had me draw.” He said he was uncomfortable in silence and that’s why he had asked her to get me. My husband and I thought we were giving the benefit of the doubt by emailing her and letting her know what our son had told us. Maybe she was trying to observe only? Or establish trust? Who knows. But, instead of her writing back and explaining her method of counseling and what she was trying to do, or acknowledging that she was working on her computer and not talking with him/apologizing, she simply wrote back and said she would close out his file and to let her know if we needed her to transfer his file to a new counselor. This wasn’t our first rodeo. We went to her after our son had seen a counselor an hour away (who was an amazing fit!) but were trying to find someone closer to home. Michelle is very nice and she is probably great with adults, and people who can advocate for themselves. But, it’s my belief that she didn’t know our son was observant and more intelligent than people his age, and that he would talk to us and report on how it went. I was going to let it go, but saw that someone was asking on a public group for a recommendation for their child and this place was recommended. I felt that I needed to share our experience with our child. Our son is now thriving with a different counselor in the area. Therapy is personal- so this place may be a great fit for someone else. Take or toss as always."
"I would recommend Michelle with Mind over Matter for counseling. She listens to your needs and can provide you with additional resources. Quiet, friendly atmosphere and good communication."
"Mind over Matter Counseling was suggested to me about a year ago. After bad experiences as a child with counselors, I was leery of the idea about starting counseling again. I am SO glad I found Michelle at just the right time. She has helped me tremendously over the past year and shook off everything preconceived thought I had before about counselors. Her and I instantly connected and I genuinely look forward to seeing her at my appointments."
