"Amanda (the MDS Coordinator or something like that) was extremely rude, bossy, and bullied me over the phone and hung up on me. When I asked her name, she very arrogantly stated her credentials as if that was an entitlement to disrespected me and show me disregard. She was accompanied by another younger woman (perhaps, receptionist) named Amanda as well, that was playing games with me on the phone calls; continuously (for about an hour or more). Hanging up... not picking up ... putting me on hold for over 10 minutes, etc. It's possible that the social worker (Donna) initiated their behavior. Not certain... Something did but it was completely immature and unprofessional. I would NEVER behave that way towards someone who's calling a PROFESSIONAL establishment. It's their duty to be provide professional services; they are getting a pay check to provide that. Makes me wonder about this place! A nurse named Suzanne was extremely rude towards my cousin who was having respiratory problems and was coughing. She yelled at her to STOP; twice! Gave my cousin a very rude and mean look. Made me wonder: "how" mean is she when I am not looking. I was in a video call with my cousin. As we continued to chat after she left the room, I had informed the nursing home desk about this and she comes in and RUDELY steps in front of the video monitor and asked my cousin was I rude to YOU!?? I don't know what my cousin said because she can't talk but Suzanne got sassy and said; I didn't even say nothing to ya (or something similar to that). She wasn't respecting my cousin ONE bit. She seems like a bully. I asked her name and she ignored me. Someone else told me (at the desk). After a while, she turned to me and got REAL funky and sassy with me; asked what I wanted!!! I was on a call with the desk and couldn't answer that question and she looked at my cousin and made a rude comment about it. She had her arms spread out; as if she was being bossy. She definitely didn't give a darn about my cousin or me. Hopefully, no racism. It was absolutely horrible to have seen this happen. My cousin is handicapped. Deep sigh.... A couple of days later, my cousin said that she had not eaten breakfast or lunch and I asked why. She said no one came in to get her and she was just sleeping all day. Made me wonder if that mean nurse (Suzanne) planned that. She definitely wasn't caring at ALL. My cousin doesn't get her hair combed and her room is a mess. I don't like this place after getting hung up on today; over and over and over and over again by "the Amandas". Elementary..."
"I have many family members who have been a resident at this facility and have gotten excellent care. The staff is caring and listens to your concerns and makes sure anything gets addressed. They also have a fantastic respiratory and restorative department to make sure everyone is very well taken care of."
"The staff at Mississippi Valley genuinely care about the patients and residents. The environment is warm and inviting as well as clean. I would not hesitate considering them as an option for a loved one."
"I came to Mississippi Valley Healthcare (formerly Lexington Square) over 10 years ago. Quit a very easy, good-paying job to go there, but never regretted it. Anyone who has left usually regrets it. We have a variety of ages and health concerns with residents. You will never learn more anywhere else. Dr. Wilson Davis was our medical director for a very long time and he made sure his nurses were well-educated. If you didn't understand why he ordered something, he would educate why, instead of just denying. He taught us alot. The atmosphere is very upbeat. All staff treat each other as family. The patients and staff always joke around with each other. I went to a few nursing homes recently (due to being offered jobs with more pay and less work), but I noticed they were all too quiet, saw staff fighting over who has to answer a call light and people lined up like an assembly line. Mississippi Valley is the only place I have seen interaction with the residents and staff, and is the best, for work, healing, and dying. The BEST PLACE EVER!"
"As a nurse, i have really appreciated the care my mother is receiving here! There is a wonderful staff who work together to take care of our loved ones at such a difficult stage of life. Sometimes it is hard to appreciate the care due to circumstances of aging. God bless each staff member and resident! You are so appreciated - I hope this is an encouragement to you all - it is very hard work physically and emotionally to care for residents! I pray for you all every day! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️"
