Reviews of Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower
"Not much to see for the price.. tower goes up a few stories."
"The Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower is a unique place to visit. The tower offers the opportunity to have a great view of the surrounding area. You can take the elevator to the top of the tower for the view. It does cost $10 to go to the top and it is a good view. The tower is good to visit in combination with a visit to the nearby Lewis & Clark Historic Site and also the Melvin Price lock and dam."
"We had a fun time visiting the Lewis and Clark Confluence Tower which opens at 10am on Sundays. It only cost $10 (credit cards only) to take a guided tour up in the tower to see the Alton area. We had a very friendly and informative tour guide. Located just one mile from the Lewis & Clark State Historic Site in Hartford, IL, the tower rises 180 feet above the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. Three tower viewing platforms, at 50, 100 and 150 feet, highlight the stories of the surrounding area including the Village of Hartford, the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway, the Lewis & Clark journey and, of course, the two great rivers. A garden representing plants collected by explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on their westward journey and an outdoor amphitheater sit at the base of the tower and are also part of the visitor experience. The indoor visitor center has an interactive exhibits with videos and graphic panels which tell the stories of the history, wildlife and communities along the byway. Tower Season: Open May 18, 2023 – October 29, 2023 Closed November and December Opens for Eagle Season January 6, 2024 – February 25, 2024 Closed March and April *Closed on Holidays"
"Park is pretty, but I came a long way to see this. Doesnt open until 10am. No stairs, so you need to use an elevator, but since it was closed at 9am, never saw the view. Really bummed."
"See a panoramic view of the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers from 50 to 150 feet in the air! The Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower is dedicated to the duo's history-making journey, and serves as a gateway to the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway. The Corps of Discovery voyage began here on May 14, 1804, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Take the elevator up to the top of the 180-foot-tall tower, where you’ll step out to panoramic views of the swirling river waters (the view is particularly stunning at sunset). On platforms located at 50, 100 and 150 feet visitors learn about the early days of Hartford, as well as Lewis and Clark's journey."
