"This is a standpipe type of water tower. It was built as a tower using red bricks."
"Historic structure that was renovated about 50 years ago. In good condition but no entry is allowed. The white tower is close by but not much to look at. In an extremely sketchy neighborhood so drive-by is fine but use caution if walking in the area."
"Catch the Grand bus @ Bissell Street Water Tower to Saint Louis University Hospital To Be With The Love Of My Life Make No Mistake When He Call I Come Running...The Grand Bus Make It So Much easier to get to other main bus lines and they run atleast ten minutes apart so u want have to be waiting forever and get where your going early and on time..."
"There are only a handful of these old standpipe water towers left around the country, and St. Louis has the most with three. The Bissell Street Water Tower is located in the north of the city with its more well known counterpart, the Grand Avenue Water Tower. That said, the tower is architecturally impressive as it rises above the surrounding street. Definitely an interesting and notable piece of St. Louis history."
"Did not know this was there until I was looking at a special on the internet. The one just a couple of blocks away on Grand gets all the attention. But going to see this one isn't for the faint of heart as the old hospital a block up is abandoned and creepy looking."
